With this, only run fre3vo bat file and all will install
automatically:
Thanks for your contribution. Just one thing: I haven't looked, so can you confirm that the script you mention really is equivalent to the approach outlined in this thread, ie: that it does not modify anything in /system ?

If your script is something different, then it would be pretty much off-topic here. But if it's the same thing, then I'll add a link to it in the OP, to make Windows users' lives easier :)

Thanks so much Joel, I really felt lost without my Titanium Backup Pro! It's the first time I've had an unrooted phone since just before Jesus Freak gve us root on our G1s, and it's amazing how many things I always took for granted about root.

Thanks for your feedback. I hadn't tested AdFree, but I'm not surprised here. This solution is a willful compromise: we refrain from modifying /system, and thus we gain 100% reliability - but at the same time we lose compatibility with some root apps, because they often rely on BusyBox being in /system (or at least in $PATH).

I have contacted @agrabren on Twitter with a link to this thread. I haven't looked into it, but if #teamwin can come up with a way to execute adb commands locally on the phone, it could all be done automatically at boot. Hopefully they'll add a configuration choice such as:

Method 1: Full compatibility with root apps, system BusyBox, "ephemeral" root
Method 2: Compatibility with *some* root apps, no system BusyBox, 100% reliable root

Let's see how it goes... but I know which method I'd personally use ;)
Ah yeah, I didn't think about AdFree needing system. I think reliable root is best for now. That way at least SOME things work reliably. I am sure that teamwin will get it working though. Nice to have the community sharing files on this, gets the work done a lot faster.

EDIT: Does not seem to work for AdFree or checking SU in terminal emulator.

That's the goal - but such a script would not work right now, because: (1) the 1st command terminates the current shell and (2) the 2nd command must be called through ADB...
Paul O'Brien, Modaco's founder, wrote a temp root app last year called Visionary. It could temp root each time you rebooted the device. Contact him, together you might be able to do it.

agrabren is also working on getting Fre3vo in an apk to start on a reboot and get root apps working.
