Probably best to wait a little bit anyway. It gives a chance for ota people to give feedback about it. I hope there are no partition updates that would mess up people like me that are unlocked, use recovery, and fancy flashing in root :)

nvflash and root

nvflash available? After days of research, I had decided to unlock my tablet and root it today. Now, I am not sure what to do with this OTA update coming out today. Guess I should at least wait to see if nvflash is available. My question is tho.. if it isnt available should i root my current version of 10.4.2.20. Would the OTA update to andriod 4.2.1 change the current rooting process?

Mine updated this morning after using "Check for Update" in the system settings. It told me I was up to date but started downloading the update in the background. Installed in about 10 minutes. So far it's pretty nice!

NVFlash would be awesome but I highly doubt it. Even if they do something thanks to the petition, I think it might take some time ;)

Update failed. No reason given. Now it says I am up to date even though I am not. Sigh

If you unlocked you won't get the update ota. You'll need to flash it via recovery or put the zip on your primary storage once Asus posts it.

Am I the only having awful performance after the update? Maneuvering around is very laggy and delayed, especially settings menu. Also all images in gallery are blank, so I'm having to clear data in gallery and let it resync.

Well mine's bricked after this. It applied the update as usual and rebooted, and it's been stuck at the Asus logo since. I've tried everything I can think of so I guess it's going in for service. It was stock too, so I know it was a bad flash. Ironically, if I violated the warranty and unlocked this thing, as I've done with every other device I've owned, I wouldn't be in this mess. Thanks Asus...

bluetooth failure after OTA update

Ater updating today, my bluetooth has failed. I move the slider from off to on and it bounces back to off. Asus tech support made me do a wipe, but the problem is still there. They want me to send in the tablet for repair, but I am rooted and do not want to lose root.

Any help appreciated.

I think it's safe to say you shouldn't take this update unless you can backup your previous setup and restore if all goes wrong.

The irony is that most backups require root, which requires unlock, which means you're not going to get the update....

I finally broke down and applied it. Of note, if anyone's interested...my bootloader is still version "1.00 e" but now instead of:
RCK | Android | USB | Wipe Data
It goes straight into USB download mode and still shows:
RCK | Android | Wipe Data...

I wonder if they changed anything else?

I wonder if fastboot will work now without unlocking since that is what usb mode has been used for in the past. It could mean there is no reason to unlock to root on JB. Anyone care to try fastboot?

I am having the same issue with the Bluetooth. They most likely screwed it up. Also i'm not getting any sound via HDMI anymore either.

Can anyone else verify wether their Bluetooth and/or HDMI sound is or isn't working please?

EDIT: HDMI issue resolved. It was the hotel TV that I was using, got home and works fine on my TV's.

No. I'll say it again. If your bootloader is unlocked, you will not get the update ota, period.

Have you checked if My Library is working???

My girlfriend has the tablet and upgraded fine from ICS to JB 4.1.1 few days ago and yesterday she upgraded via OTA to 4.2.1 and now My Library crashes when she loads a book.

I know My Library sucks, but that's the app she uses and I want to know if it can be fixed.

I found an apparent fix to use airplane mode and disable online sync but it doesn't work. She cleared the data for the app with no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!
