Improved freezing - is that related to the Mi Box 3 in anyway?

Unfortunately the MiBox has a bad hardware decoder I tried a lot of things to fix it but so far nothing helped. However you will be able to activate the software decoder by going to the settings and activate the "Use Software decoder". This is normally not recommended at all as software decoders are usually slow and can introduce a bad streaming quality and lags. However as on this faulty devices "blacklisting" this decoder is the only option I have (which means using a software decoder instead), I've introduced that setting. Keep in mind that you probably have to decrease resolution, bitrate and fps in order to get a smooth streaming experience. I have reproduced the issue on my MiBox as well but like I said after a little research on the internet it turned out that this is a device specific hardware decoder problem.

The freezing problem which I was referring to was happening on some Huawei smartphones/ tablets. This error should now be fixed.

Typically, bought a new Samsung S5e tablet the other day, due to the program issues on my Samsung tab S2.... Guess what, the new update now works fine with my tab S2... Thank you though for your update.

That's annoying, but it seems that I've fixed the error by accident. I did some minor changes because of the PIP feature and I've also added one specific functionality for the Android MediaCodec (which is initializing the decoder) and it seems that this somehow fixed the problem on your Samsung Tab S2.

I must admit though my tab s2 was getting a bit old and a got a great deal on the tab s5e at £249 brand new, so I'm happy, my old tab will sell for sound £120 as it has 4g and WiFi.

Keep up the great work.

Pls I have been asked to input a number from ps4 but I have no ps4.if u know de number plz tell me

There must be a misunderstanding, PSPlay or any other Remote Play client on this thread like REPL4Y is not an emulator and they will not work if you do not have a PS4. You can stream the content from your real PS4 to another device like your smartphone and control it from there.

---------- Post added at 11:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:10 AM ----------

For anyone looking for a way to use your smartphone as Dualshock controller or for people who might want to get a glimpse of how PSPlay is working. I've released a free app called PSPad. As it was the original intention to create an app which can be used as additional Dualshock controller I've decided to publish this app for free. This app is specially designed for users who need a second Dualshock gamepad to play multiplayer games or need a quick replacement for their broken PS4 controllers. You can download it from here

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pspad.grill.com

Short demonstration video

The main features of PSPad are:
  • Use PSPad as virtual Dualshock controller for your PS4
  • Forward all connected Android controllers commands to your PS4
  • Create individual controller button mappings

PSPad is establishing a connection to your PS4 via the Remote Play protocol. This has some limitations which you have to keep in mind:
  • Because of how PSPad works, using Remote Play will not work while using PSPad
  • You cannot connect multiple PSPad apps to your PS4 at the same time
  • To connect a controller to your PS4 while using PSPad, you need a second PS4 profile
  • Connections can only be established via WiFi
  • As the PS4 is sending streaming data it could affect your

Despite no audio and video will be displayed, PSPad does receive that data which may have an impact on your internet traffic so please keep that in mind.

For everyone who is wondering, all features of PSPad are already included in PSPlay. The difference between these two apps is that PSPlay is a full remote play client and PSPad can just be used as controller, so not streaming is possible with PSPad.

My personal highlight of PSPad is that it is possible to use any Android compatible controller on your PS4 through PSPad. So it is theoretically possible to use an XBox controller on your PS4 via PSPad :D

New features and improvements for PSPlay are coming soon.

First of all, thank you for making this PSPlay app as it works quite well as tested with my Shield TV Pro and PS4 Pro at 1080p/60fps settings, definitely surpassing my expectation.

I played with game streaming clients a lot on multiple platforms, PS4, PC and Xbox as well, Steam Link, Nvidia GameStream, Moonlight, OneCast (for Xbox), etc. So I would like to give some feedbacks:

Compared to other streaming configurations I have tried, these are at the top of my list and I will try to be fair. All setup I mentioned have identical network environment and hardwired.

1) Compared to my another setup with Mac mini 2018 with official Sony Remote Play client, the latency is better on Sony’s but the gap is close. Also it support vibration for the controller.
2) Compared to using Shield TV to stream PC games with Moonlight, latency of this setup is even better. I actually completed Ori and the Blind Forest with this, which requires delicate responses time to beat this game.

I know both cases are not 100% comparable to PSPlay on Shield TV, but it does seems to me there are rooms to improve on the software performance in terms of latency.

Feature-wise, I would love to see vibration/rumble support for DS4 controller. And while button mapping works, the configuration process could have rooms to improve when compared to Steam Link

I may have other feedback but these are the major ones after playing it for an hour. Anyway great work and keep it up!

Hi, thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate that.
In regard to the performance this can heavily depend on the device which you are using. I also got already many feedback from users who said the performance is much better than in the official remote play app and normally it should be better. Sure there is always room for improvement and the next update will include an improvement for streaming in an unstable network. But improving the performance is not always as simple as it sounds, believe me I have and I will still put a lot of effort in this to improve things.

Vibration support is currently not implemented in PSPlay, there are still two major features which I want to implement for PSPlay. One is rumble support and the other one is microphone support. Both features are planned but I can't say yet when they will be ready.

Of course I do believe you will always try to put effort to improve things. One reason I mentioned Moonlight is because it’s open source and it had very good performance in streaming PC games, perhaps there may be something that could learn from them too.

I have exclusively playing FF7 Remake using PSPlay on Shield TV for a couple of more hours
As the game runs on 30 FPS only, I just changed the settings to 1080p/30 fps, and there seems to feel like having a slight improve in latency compared to 60 fps

EDIT: An additional feedback
Currently the app UI is designed for mobile/touch screen use
It will be nice to have a more TV based UI using remote or controller when used on TV devices

Thanks for the update.

In regard to your suggestion, what kind of UI do you have in mind? I tried to optimize it a bit for TV though but sure it could be better.
Android TV support was introduced recently and to avoid delays because of completely rewriting the UI I made only a few optimizations.

Perhaps try to see the UI of Moonlight, there is not huge difference but some minor improvements:
1. Actions/Settings are grouped by small icons on the left that is clear to see (indeed on my first use of PSPlay I didn’t know where to start)
2. Ability to setup multiple PS4 profiles (echo to my previous fps settings for different games or machines)

Microphone support will be available soon. It's working on my dev build, just need some more fine tuning and testing but will be available in the next update in a few weeks ???
Tested on Party Chat and with Voice Commands.
Feedback once it is available is highly appreciated.

You think it's time to start your own thread in the XDA apps forum where you can maintain the OP? Link to it here. And being a new thread, it ought to attract more users.
