Android emoji are in a font: /system/fonts/NotoColorEmoji.ttf

Which is how I changed mine to IOS emoji

Care to share your IOS emoji? Coming from Samsung, Google's emoji's don't make sense to me :)
Here ya go.. Attached
Thank you! These look so much better than the Lollipop emoji.

To me, the stock Lollipop ones look like Weebles...

Remember the old kids' toy "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down".

I prefer yours much better. Thank you!

Oh, you actually need the updated Google Keyboard that came with 6.0.1 to use some of the new emoji. You can also use the AOSP keyboard that ships by default with every custom rom - it was also updated to support the new emoji, and it *should* run on Lollipop (it runs fine in my 2013 Moto G with stock 5.1).

Sorry if I sounded like Cpt. Obvious :p

And based on my previous reply... Here goes a flashable zip of the updated AOSP keyboard. I pulled the apk and the libraries off of today's CM13 nightly for my device (Moto G). It should work on any ARMv7 device running either Lollipop or Marshmallow.

Link coming soon.

Edit: It's up.

Put the zip at the root of your phone's internal storage before flashing.

Edit 2: This should work on any ARMv7 device running at least ICS.

Thanks for this! Finally got it to work after trying forever. I'd like the iOS version (which I'm sure is out there but I give up on trying) but I'll settle for the ugly Android ones for now, lol.

You just need to replace the emoji font and you're good. There's an iOS 9.x AppleColorEmoji.ttf somewhere around this forum, you only need to search ;)

So I finally got the Apple ones to work. Only problem is they are the yellow color and from what I gather the only work around is some annoying skin tone thing that's really kind of obnoxious. I'll totally settle for these Android ones for now. Thanks again.

My emojis show up online or in texts I receive but I can't seem to use them. What an I doing wrong?
Emojis you can use depend on the keyboard you use. Some probably check what android version you're running and only show the ones you're supposed to have. I know for a fact Touchpal will show the new emojis, and others from the play store probably will as well.

@Shooting Star Max The zip worked last time I used it, but it seems with TWRP 2.8.7, Ressurection Remix build 1/4/2016 and BHB kernel v1.2.2 by baybutcher27, TRP reports the zip as corrupt and instantly restarts when I try to install. Any idea what the problem is?

Update: well this is weird... ES file explorer seems to think the zip is empty o.0
Update:(again) My best guess is that the problem came from using ES downloader, as downloading normally with chrome took much longer, as if it was actually downloading a bunch of emojis.

Hey guys,

I can confirm that this works without the modded Google keyboard, as Google just updated their keyboard in the Playstore to support the new emoji's.
