To follow on from this post, I have found that my headunit has a 1280x480 resolution display.

I had an update available on the Autokit app the other day which has fixed the issue with the "Image Scale" options. If I select "Original", then it displays more how I would expect it to... but it has large black borders to the left and right... so a decent chunk of the screen is unusable. If I select "Fullscreen", then it just stretches it wide.

While its not terrible, it's obviously a stretched image. I've added two photos to show the difference. Apologies they're from a slight distance, I couldn't get my phone any closer without unplugging it.

I have found this thread on the official Android Auto forums that suggest 1280x480 is definitely possible, it just needs the manufacturer to implement it... so if I'm understanding it correctly, this means the AutoKit app needs to support that resolution. https://support.google.com/androidauto/thread/8844203?hl=en

I have also discovered how to enable the developer options in Android Auto. The screen resolution options here do not make a difference. Well, always use 480p makes it worse... but allow up to 720p, 1080p or allow negotiation does not make a difference.

Does AutoKit support this resolution? If yes, how can I select it or is there a specific version I need to install? If no, how can I request it?

I am currently running AutoKit version 2021.01.08.1651 and box firmware version 2020.10.27.1239.

It seems this is a relatively common resolution as I've found detail of various units that run this... so it seems reasonable for the app to include this support.

Thank you,
Mike

I've had the same issue since day one. I tried their customer support several months back and they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually they just stopped replying. The HUR app has no trouble adjusting to the 10.25" so I've been using that, but I would really rather use the dongle. I have no idea why this is so hard to get right. I hope an update fixes it eventually.

Another example that shows them as an awful company. So weird to me that they behave like this with their customer service, but yet they continue to put out updates which implies they are bug fixing.

My issue from a few pages back was resolved by myself - there was a setting called “quick ball” which was enabled by default - they could have told me this is what is was pretty easily, but they just ignored me and told me to ask my eBay seller.

It makes me wonder if their “customer service” agents are just a 3rd party that are clueless about the products they support. They are not doing them any favours that’s for sure.

If anyone wants it, they have a page with the latest software here http://www.carlinkit.com/softdown

I have the carlinkit dongle, and i am using iphone11 conected with cable to the dongle. All works good except the incoming calls, for any starnge reason i can't hear the voice of the incoming call because the incoming call sound is redirect to carplay instead of car bluetooth. Its anoying because i have to manually set the incoming call sound to bluetootn to listen it and if i am driving is verty dangerous to do that.
Anyone with this serious problem? is there anyway to set or redirect automatically the incoming calls sound to bluetooth instead of carplay?
thanks pls

Same here.
I use wired Carplay, and when in a call, I see that Carplay tries to use the incorporated mic in the dongle, which is in my glove box; I must pick the phone, select the bluetooth call audio source and then I can continue with the call, this for every single call. Any way to set the default to the bluetooth mic?
I have the same problem, did you solve it? its very frutrating

"The problem setting Carplay as audio source during a call, for me at least, was that the mic had something like 3-5% of the normal sensibility, the caller says that they hear me like underwater facing down lol, I thought maybe the box had a mic and couldn't hear me well as it's in the glove box, but my box is the one without mic."
I have the same problem with the mic, when I use the phone with carlink, the caller hears the road and wind noises, but my voice is very far. I think the original Android device applies filters to the mic to have a good call quality but the carlinkit only takes the original mic signal without any sound filter. I will try to exchange my device for the one with the mic, I hope it will work better...

Hello,

I bought also a carlinkit CPC200-Autokit (wireless and wired) version. I installed right apk file from carlinkit. Everything works well with an old phone (LG Q6) but it is too small.

I have a galaxy tab )SM-T310, it is perfect for carplay:
Dual-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A9 processor, 1.5gb ram, 8 inch display, 3.5mm audio Official rom was installed (Android 4.2.2),

I install same apk, touch app-icon, it is highlighted but not running (no interface, no error message, absolutely nothing).

I want to use only carplay, nothing else, so I installed TWRP, LineageOS (Android 7.1.2) without google apps, Installed apk again, tried to run and same result. I give all permissions under "settings/apps" (because it is not asked usually).

Used anyone this app with galaxy tab? Do you have any suggestion?

If this app with galaxy tab not compatible;
could you suggest any cheap tablet for me?
I would preffer a tablet:
can run "autokit.apk" for carplay
could powered with usb-hub

I pefer this functions:
3.5mm audio output (my old car does not have bluetooth)

And another question: How are you mounting tablets to dashboard?

I just installed the autokit apk using http://121.40.123.198:8080/AutoKit/AutoKit.apk. Carplay works great but my FM radio app on the Head Unit will only play music for a few seconds and then stops. When i uninstall the Autokit APK the FM radio works again.

Any suggesstions?
Did you get any solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue. Even when the AutoKit app is closed, it seems like it is trying to launch again every few seconds, which makes the radio app stop playing. What I noticed: When I cut permissions for the app, I also get a notification every few seconds that the USB adapter wants permissions to open the app.

Has anyone been successful using the Bluetooth option to route audio instead of box? This is an advanced option with the latest software. It says its in beta and allows you to send audio over bluetooth to your car's stereo (phone needs paired with the cars stock bluetooth). I can hear music through itunes/spotify but Navigation audio does not play. I was able to hear navigation audio briefly when activating SIRI so I'm guessing the Nav audio is over that channel instead. Would be great to just have all audio go over bluetooth since it's much better quality than the head unit / box.

Thanks!

Same problem here as described by wooldogsinc but using CarPlay, Auto kit breaks fm radio on 8227L and YT9216 devices. Crashes the fm app after a few seconds, I'm using same radio.
It seems to be a conflict with how AutoPlay app manage the USB box, when I want to listen to FM radio or another source app (e.g. Poweramp) it plays for about 10 seconds and then the app or radio gets stopped. I have tinkered many settings in the HU and in Autoplay settings and found no solution.
This happen only if the Autoplay app is installed, when I uninstall it, the other sources work fine. If I disconnect the box from USB, radio or other apps are only stopped once, on a second try they run with no problems.

Tinkering around the problem I found a workaround (not a solution) that let HU apps, radio, and CarPlay use more friendly. Connecting my iPhone to CarPlay and HU Bluetooth simultaneously.

Here is what I have done and works for me:

Be careful prior to applying any upgrade, please verify that this firmware is appropriate for your unit otherwise you may end with a brick, there are many threads that guide and warn about this.

Reset to factory state and apply the upgrade, you will need to reinstall your apps including Autoplay.apk --> https://www.autokit.com/?list_36/

I upgraded firmware to latest available from XYAUTO, at http://file.xygala.com user:XYAUTO pass:123456

gongban_YT9216CJ_ui-9216CJ_hw-ota-v7.1.zip

http://file.xygala.com/download/dXB...MuNC56aXA=/h/3e4af8a6b603ab8b2c443e9b6068e4a6

After upgrade go to factory settings (pass:8888)

In APP SETTINGS --> AUDIO MUTEX APPS SETTINGS check localradio app
With this setting HU will not stop radio app and will mix radio sound with other audio sources.

In APP SETTINGS --> NAVIGATION APPSSETTINGS check AutoPlay app
With this setting HU will manage AutoPlay as a navigation app allowing it to mix its sound into other apps.

This will create a mess of sound source mix if you try to use radio or CarPlay as it will mix sounds from this apps because it will not stop radio from playing if sounds are emitted from CarPlay, to solve this situation you should pair to HU Bluetooth and to CarPlay using the USB dongle simultaneously, set sound destination on iPhone to CarPlay.

I’ve notice that both apps, music app in HU Bluetooth and Carplay are linked to same playing app in the iPhone and react to play, stop, next, previous keys at the same time. Thus music app in HU Bluetooth will stop radio or CarPlay. If you play radio it will send a stop signal to music app, if you play music from iPhone (using CarPlay) music app in HU Bluetooth will stop radio. This way HU and CarPlay resembles normal use avoiding unwanted closing of apps.

You must erase learned NEXT and PREVIOUS keys in Autoplay settings, if you don’t every time you press any of this key will be applied twice, one from CarPlay and one from music app in HU Bluetooth.

Another consequences from this solution is that calls even if shown in CarPlay are routed through HU Bluetooth, having less lag and better audio for me and for the other end of call; and instructions in Waze app in CarPlay are mixed into any app that is playing in the HU

Any luck with that?

EDIT: I only can hear notifications, not Spotify or other music app

I've had these units before... for some reason the mic with carplay is always a disaster. At least now there is a setting to turn it off and use Bluetooth.

Wireless carplay is done by means of wifi not bluetooth.
Bluetooth is still needed to pass the audio (but if works with cable it uses as well Bluetooth for audio)
So...check if you see a wifi hotspot generated by your unit ....in order to accept it
I will try it via Wi-Fi, i followed the manual wich says it is connected via Bluetooth

[WHT DONGLE] Current App Build & Firmware

I think tat seines there is quite a few people checking on this thread and that there are no CLEAR instruction; accept from the half baked English ones from the seller / retailer that, again, make no sense. I have decided to make a quick explanation and instruction guide on " How Too Upgrade " the app and firmware.

If anyone also know where the latest firmwares can be obtained other than out of date sales sites then replay to this post and ill update it.

    Current APK Build: 2018.06.20.1338

    Current Firmware Build: 2018.06.26.1620

InApp Firmware Update (for my self) Isn't working

Anyone with the ZBox Version wanting to give directions on installing then be my guest.

    WHITE DONGLE

1:- First head over to the links provided for the latest known working Autoplaybox APK & firmware and download them to a pc or laptop:

    apk
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/na44v3r5z3....1634.zip?dl=0

    Firmware
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/00mba8i97r...pdate.zip?dl=0

If you download the APK from the links above then this is the entry APK into the in app updating in which you can then update the app within the app its self. It also give you the option to update the firmware also how ever the " null - unstable network connection " bug currently happens

2:- Once downloaded you will need a USB 2.0 thumb stick, reformat it just for good measures and then move the files on to the USB 2.0 thumb stick. You will need to unzip the files if you follow the links provided above.

I found that when the retailers and Chinese sellers state that you need to install the firmware VIA a U-Disk then what they actually mean is a USB 2.0 thumb drive. Through experience I was trying to update the firmware using a USB 3.0 thumb drive and it didn't work.

3:- After moving your downloaded files to your USB 2.0 thumb stick, eject the USB 2.0 thumb stick from your computer and move to your android head unit in your car. Start your car so the head unit turns on and move to the next step.

4:-Uninstall the Autoplaybox you currently have installed and connect your USB 2.0 thumb stick into a USB port and locate the APK you downloaded. Install and don't open Autoplaybox. You will need to locate your files again on your USB 2.0 thumb stick, remove the APK and keep the update image on the Thumb stick.

5:- Remove your USB 2.0 thumb stick, open the AutoPlayBox BUT do not connect the dongle just yet.

6:- Take your dongle and connect your USB 2.0 thumb stick into the USB port on the dongle.

7:-Once USB 2.0 thumb stick ix connected to your dingle, connect the dongle and USB 2.0 thumb stick combo into a usb port on your head unit.

As the dongle is powered; in the app you will then see the APK build & firmware on screen, then in yellow text you will see "Dont unplug U-Disk until update has finished. Shortly after you will see green text stating the update was successful. Then your all set.

I finally managed to download the latest updates (apk and firmware) of the white dongle, dated 20180518. Last firmware removes the annoying "use this USB" dialog that came up every single time the dongle was attached.
You can find them here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9ytsotykluvl2if/AAACg9oAR43aZwX3_XL3rWEua?dl=0

    Enjoy!

Made a new video showing how to update and in the description there is the link for any updates for the dongle.

If you get a black screen go into android settings, car settings, and enable watching video while driving! It might be blocked by default!
