I'd like to remove the ugly unlocked warning from my rooted Dev phone. Does anyone know how I can open the logo.bin file and edit the image therein with Gimp?

Your can do that with @carock 's script http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48891456
PS: Once you have completed your image (with GIMP...) you have to add a 1 pixel frame inside the image before converting to logo.bin.

replace the boot screen (aka boot logo)? It depends on what moto you have, and is the bootloader unlocked or not. But I think it would be off topic for this thread.
