This folder is created during rom installation. Otherwise, app wont work. So what you're saying is there are no force closes after data wipe at all, right?

Sent from my MB525 using xda app-developers app
okay, the rom didn't create it..
at least on the las jb build.

i try to create it on data partition,
but what permission should i add?
in root explorer whar should i tick for permission..?
assuming on this 9 checkbox:
---
---
---

i'll report later that FC bug is still here on last build or not..

The crash on prolonged use issue doesn't seem to be happening on quark's 16th July cm9 defy build. Played around in the app for a couple of minutes, randomly enabling/disabling and using the filter.

the files are there now,
but it seems JB build not compatible with it yet.
it's not disabling hwa.

Is this working for anyone with JB? I have the latest CM10 from Quarx and the app generates folders in /data/local/hwui.deny but after rebooting HWA is still enabled.
Am I missing something?
Same here on the 190712 CM10 defy plus build... the /data/local/hwui.deny folder is created and populated with the unchecked apps, but the apps still have HWA enabled.

How can you tell?
Correction... unchecking Apex in the HWA app, then rebooting does deactivate HWA for Apex (in 190712 JB+ build)

The easiest way to tell with Apex if HWA is disabled, is to go into the app drawer and scroll to the left so that the apps show the 3d effect, you can tell by the slight pixelation that happens to the text below the apps.

The reason I like to disable HWA for Apex is so that the screen preview animations are much smoother (if you have 5 home screens full of apps and widgets) and off-course, to save precious RAM

I guess disabling HWA for "Settings" is also an easy one to check... the gradient backgound is all black when HWA is disabled.

Im sorry but im not a good follower to all posts but why no apk for HwaSettings-1.03
.zip is compatible with JB 21 Quarx ?
It's a known issue. We have to wait till epsy patches JB framework.

Why this happens? How often we have to clear data to keep the list updated?

It happens when you use applications like task managers or Autostarts. Otherwise list would be updated automatically.

Is there any reliable way to see if the HWA settings actually do anything? I can't see a difference on my latest Quarx CM9 defy+. I can see the files created in hwui.deny, but I n't see performance implications. If I add Apex to .deny, Apex restarts but other than that it is hard to say if there is any difference. I have looked in detail at the app drawer behaviour with a 3D transition enabled, but it looks just the same either way. Also, is it necesarry to reboot after changing settings?

Try diabling hwa for an app with gradient like Settings. Then if the disble worked, when you open the app, the gradient would have disappeared. No you don't have to reboot. If the package haven't restarted, try force stopping.

Edit : added some tips in OP

I was checking your last cwm zip and I noted a couple of things:

1. Meta-inf folder is duplicate
2. I suggest that you include a delete /system/app/HwaSetting*.apk in updater-script, since many people use to leave the original file intact and maybe now have a duplicate HwaSettings

Test if hwui.use.blacklist is presente

@Royale1223

Could you implement a WARNING, to inform if hwui.use.blacklist is present on build.prop file.
I do a lot of ROM flashing, and sometimes I forgot if I already save the flag in build.prop.

Thanks

Hey, great work!
Wouldn't it be better/cleaner to integrate this feature into DefyParts?
Yes, I was hoping to add this in DefyParts when I first made this. That's why the package name is "com.cyanogenmod.settings.device.hwa". But then the application is not just for defy. So I have changed the layout of the application so that It fits the Apps section of Settings package. I guess maybe someday CM team will integrate this. The hwui.deny commit of epsy is currently undergoing cm-gerrit review. http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#/c/19249/

That's a good idea. I'm a bit busy with the FM Radio app right now. Will add it later.
