I was very surprised that eMMC chip is already programmed - just ready to solder. Phone booted straight away after soldering . Unbranded, old hboot, sense 2.1 , new IMEI ...

These Chinese guys are incredible. Just took a look at the part4repair - the chip is in the Desire S section - that explains the software. Great news actually. Now I only need a technician to make the exchange if something happens to my device!
Thanks for sharing

another interesting thing is that this eMMC chip is 8G

Detected an Initialized FLASH1 Chip, ID: 0x0045/0x0000 (SEM08G, 0x0001D9800000 Bytes = 7.40 GB)

maybe there is space for aditional partition, but then we need to mount it somewhere :)

There are guides in the Desire subforums. They need this because of the lack of space. But the principle is the same I think...

Where is that chip located exactly on the PCB? I have dismantled the phone many times but could not guess where it is.

There is pic attached in first post - newly soldered SanDisk eMMC is clearly visible .

what sub forums are these? the parts4repair do not seem to have forums, are you talking xda-forums?

XDA of course :)
Here is an example. There are links in this guide and there are probably more similar guides out there. I came across this accidentally once when investigating the eMMC problem of Desire S (link in my sig). If the partitions and sizes are adjusted to our device it should work...just someone has do to it. But I think it will happen after some months when the dual and quad core machines will be main devices and will have bigger system size (or Android 5 with need of more resources) and to port it will be necessary to cut off the size or change the partition layout

That's very good news and the last chance to get my Desire S working again, after the repaircenter in germany refused my warranty!
So i just ordered one for me too, let's see how long it takes...

Do you have ani guide or a good advice on how to replace the chip properly?
Does one need special skills in soldering?
