There was speculation on the Reddit thread about this potentially burning out the scanner faster. Any logic behind that theory?

My understanding is that it stops the sensor going asleep, keeping it on constantly which can shorten the lifespan

Testing it for the second day. We'll, the finger unlock is now usable... I'm completely surprised such a small thing can make such a great difference. So looks like when app is automatically put to sleep the delay we're seeing is because Android need to wake up the unlock process. And this is a very expensive operation that contributes to the felay. I bet a sensor burnout is a complete bs though. Also if you notice most of the critical system applications are excluded from better optimizations... But not the fingerprint unlock. What could that mean? Either it's draining the battery (did not notice the drain yet), OR some engineers in Samsung have their hands growing from a wrong place.

When looking at the apps listed I see seven com.samsung. apps . I cannot expand them to see which one is for biometrics. I am missing something. Can you tell me which one it is?

Yes haha the easiest solution is sometimes the hardest to see.

Hi everyone, when i searched on optimize battery usage only one app appeared (com.samsung.android.biometrics.app.setting) , is it just one app appears to you all ?
I turned it off and the fingerprint is really fast now , thanks for the tip

Certainly instant straight from a sleeping screen! I couldn't care about battery life even if it take a hit....convenience is way better!

This really works, but when you turn it back ON even when going on powersave mode that speediness remains :good:

This definitely fixes something, because the only time it ever slowed down for me without messing with this setting was when i put the tempered glass on.

This is new to me, turn off the battery optimized for apps: com.samsung.android.biometric

The fingerprint scan is so quick, the screen makes the change, the fingerprint animation hasn't finished. Try it!

Omg thank you so much its like twice as fast, it made me think the fingerprint scanner on the note10+ was inferior before, now its blazing fast lol.. What a joke that samsung hasn't changed this.

I'm testing it with my Note 10+ and Tab S6.
Seems to fix previous fingerprint scanner problems with the Tab S6 :good:

On both devices the apps name is
com.samsung.android.biometrics.app.setting

It's hard to tell. The 2.1 update massively sped up the fingerprint scanner. It's almost as fast as oneplus' now. Maybe someone on 2.0 can tell a bigger difference?
