I'm fully aware of google having a backup of my contacts. The concern is seeing a scenario where it's not a software issue but sudden hardware failure and a full wipe doesn't fix my inability to turn on wifi, at which point I'll have a blank slate phone, with no wifi to sync to google with. I am not going to spend hours inputing hundreds of contacts manually. I believe I did mention that.
How do you know a dirty flash won't work? I prefer to go through various troubleshooting methods in order of time wasting magnitude. dirty flash is the least damaging in that regard, in comparison a full wipe is full on blank phone where I spend hours upon hours to restore how my phone was, is the most damaging method. If the new firmware flashed over with sony bridge fixes it, then I have effectively solved my problem in a 30 minute update, without any additional effort needed. If not I would
then consider a full wipe. I prefer this natural progression in logical troubleshooting.
Oh snap whaaat? I'm so dumb and "noob" that I might as well be an iphone user! $hit, you got me good. Total offense from "non-offending" snide remark taken! Awww shieeeet! You "da man"! Score one for android! celebratory high-fives all around!
Are third party roms flashable without unlocked BL or rooting? I also wasn't aware they can be dirty flashed. I prefer not to have to do this, but I should look into those roms as a solution. Thanks for the suggestion.
