I had no problems walking into a T-Mobile store and just buying the phone by itself. It was 740+tax with no sim or line commitment or anything. I had the phone unlock codes while I was still in the store (cellunlocker dot net), and I was using ATT LTE on it within about 15 minutes. Super easy.
I'm told (on phone) that they require a plan (no contract) or a prepay one month. I'm about to head down to the nicest one in my area, which appears to have extra stock of the devices.

Mind sharing how you pulled it off?

Also, how much is cellunlocker, can't get a straight answer, but admittedly didn't search too long :)

Clicking 'thanks' button in advance. /salute!

Florida unfortunately.
OK, so I finally gave ATT a valid ATT IMEI number from wifes S4 . Now my plan shows Datapro with LTE but still no LTE, not even on the ATT samsung S4? Any ideas? thanks.

nk you for your patience! Your AT&T Representative will be with you shortly.

Welcome! You are now chatting with 'Megan Russell'

Frederick : Hi Megan.

Megan Russell: Hello, Frederick. I will be happy to help you with the data connection on your phone.

Frederick : Sorry as you are now inherting an issue that the store created and could not resolve nor could Marianne that I spoke with earlier.

Frederick : inheriting rather.

Megan Russell: Not a problem. We are here to help.

Frederick : In a nutshell, I would like my datapro to be LTE version :)

Megan Russell: Was the phone we are working with unlocked from another carrier?

Frederick : yes

Megan Russell: Ok good. You are able to exchange a phone with in 14 days. You can make that exchange in an AT&T store. Do you know of a store near you?

Frederick : Why would you recommend I exchange this phone?

Megan Russell: I am so sorry. I meant that for another customer.

Frederick : no worries :)

Megan Russell: I am sorry if a device was not made to connect with our network it will not be able to connect to the LTE service. Some phones are not able to connect to the data network at all.

Frederick : My device works with ATT LTE. I would like you to enable LTE on my plan, that is all I am asking for.

Frederick : I just want to be able to log onto " my wireless ATT" and see my plan with LTE enabled on my 2GB datapro.

Megan Russell: I understand what you are asking. The way that our system works is we are offered plans that are applicable to the phone. Since your phone is not recognized by our system it is not showing the LTE plan as an option to add. I do apologize.

Frederick : Ok I will supply my ATT Galaxy note S4 IMEI number to you then.

Megan Russell: We can try that if you would like.

Frederick : let me give you that please, thanks.

Frederick : 35656705XXXXXXXX

Megan Russell: Go right ahead. I am ready.

Megan Russell: That change has been made.

Megan Russell: I would like to reset your connection to the system. Please power your phone down and let me know when it is off.

Frederick : will do just rebooting it now

Frederick : back online now

Megan Russell: Thank you.

Frederick : my pleasure

Megan Russell: Let me know once you get signal on the phone after the reboot.

Frederick : I have signal.

Megan Russell: Good! I am glad that is working. Would you like to try the data connection also>?

Frederick : I am not receiving LTE signal.

Frederick : Just 4G HSPA

Frederick : did you change my data plan to 2 GB data pro LTE?

Megan Russell: It has the LTE plan on there now. \

Frederick : wonderful

Megan Russell: Is it opening web pages with that new plan?

Frederick : let me check

Frederick : I need visual voicmail also.

Megan Russell: Oh I am sorry I have added that as well.

Frederick : thanks so much.

Frederick : May I go now?

Megan Russell: You should be all set!

Megan Russell: Were there any other questions you had today. Frederick?

Frederick : no thanks.

I walked in and said it was a gift for a friend, and I didn't want them to know that they were getting the phone, so I can't give them any account information. They said no at first, and then the store manager came in and said to just sell it since I was paying full price.

25 bucks for the unlock. It was fast and worked on the first try with no issues. They'll sometimes cut the fee in half if you tape the process. I was too lazy to take them up on it, though.

I wouldnt say it was the smoothest route to take as ATT dropped my data plan as their system didnt recognize the T mobile IMEI number. Then I had to contact ATT C/S to have my old grandfathered data plan put back, they put it back but now they havent used the LTE version LOL.
i had that issue with my xperia zl, i just gave them the iphone(only other phone was a nexus 4) imei from my other line and then I was able to get LTE

of course the lady on the phone didn't want to change the imei for some reason

at the end of the day, price was important, but not the most important thing. The CSR rep at TMOBILE said that while I paid a 50 fee for the first months service, if I didn't use any minutes - didn't make any calls, I would get a full refund of that when I cancelled my account. Will see what happens when I get my Credit Card bill - but I am very happy with my decision. I have a rooted Note 3 - running a pretty cool custom rom - which would not be possible if I had purchased my note from ATT.

But cellunlocker.net doesnt list the note 3 as a supported device

For me the reason to buy an AT&T model is that i had a $262.50 BestBuy gift card, plus they dont sell the T-Mobile variant of Note 3 in stores (anywhere!?) So i opted for the AT&T model. I have to buy all my phones at full price so heres what i did.

$799 + 9.00% tax - $262.50 = $609.48

Finance the rest with 18 Months same as cash (i.e No Interest). Pay off the balance in 18 months which is about $33-$34 dollars a month. :good:

Easy. Although i do want the T-Mobile version for modding and what not, this phone is so damn fast and easy to "turn off" apps i dont use...why not. Im happy.

$703 for TMO GN3 - $24.95 to unlock.- I saw someone later posted that if you ask TMOBILE to unlock the phone hey will as long as you have paid for the phone. I didn't know that before I unlocked it - and I cannot personally confirm it. Good Luck.
Yes, it does work that way, I got two Note 3 at full price... I paid a webpage for one of them in order to unlock it, (because I needed it rush) but the other one, I did call T-Mobile and they gave me the unlock code... So I can confirm this.

DOH. OK to put TWRP/Root? I just read a guide that said its best to have it not locked to a specific carrier prior. My past experience says no way that would matter...

It does. Look for the N900T for the T-Mobile variant of the Note 3. Many people on the forums, including myself, have used them with success.
True true, just bought a T-mobile Note 3 on swappa and gonna go ahead and unlock it now. Thanks so much, that literally was the reason why i bought this instead of the G2. I hate dealing with locked bootloaders, this is the perfect solution. Now only minor thing is to get a different back cover, i'm not a fan of the T-mobile logo :p

Best thread ever!

Update on my unlock... I'm in! The form at cellunlocker had estimated 1-5 hours, and it was 4.5 exactly. More bars at home again! Will do some GPS/bandwidth checks, but assume all is ok if you don't hear back from me :)

Thanks for all the support and guidance once again everyone!

I am also now using Tmobile N3 on ATT, as soon as I connect, the battery temperature skyrockets to 99 degrees F from 85 and battery drains, is this happening for you guys too? Or did I miss a step. I am able to get LTE. This was what I was afraid of.. any ideas?

I read that it does not work automatically. You have to change the apn settings and set it to LTE. I don't think it will work automatically

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2464498

As you can see, you need specific settings to get LTE. I'm just not sure how to do it.
heres something to look at...

Compare the ''ROM DEVELOPMENT" section in T-Mobile v Sprint, Verizon and AT&T. You eill notice they are all empty... except T-Mobile. Its what we flashaholics need.
True but all the phones just came out like 2-3 days ago. The T-mobile variant was just super fast to get development thanks to that unlocked bootloader and the fact that its gsm. But im sure Verizon and AT&T users will be fine too....hopefully.

Has nothing to do with the unlock or using LTE, maybe a weird app you have? Try a reboot or something.
