I'm not 100% certain but I believe it wont work on 3G. It might give you that error and disconnect. I think I read this somewhere but I may be wrong.

It works for me while connected to 3g, in my office i only get 3g and I can tether with no issue.

Running great on Stock ZV8

Just rooted phone yesterday and i remembered seeing this thread a while back.

followed directions to the T and is running great.

Stock Rom - ZV8 Lollipop - Rooted through ADB method.

Works for me too, I also use cdma only. At my work it's faster then lte. Which is an issue with sprints tower

I want to report that i got this working. I couldnt get it to work earlier and went with illusion rom for a month. Thought id try it again. Wiped, flashed stock zv8, wiped, updated prl and profile, did apn mod and it worked.
Thanks to those who tried to help me earlier, i was frustrated. I dont know what i did different this time but IT WORKS.

I'm doing my uncle's. I've placed "dun" on both and it won't work. What could I be missing? I haven't wiped the phone. He'd have a fit. I updated prl and profile then put dun back. Still didn't work. Won't even show the ssid.

Yes. I remembered. I noticed that in the screen shot. I also put it in both places.

You can try ##UPDATE# in the dialer. It'll reset. Then try it again.
You may need to do this again after that.
Read through the thread and the link in the OP, if you have issues still. I'm sure you'll get it working.

Common issue a work around is to install a hot spot toggle from play store then you can access it.

Its in the 3 dot menu under Mobile Data which doesn't crash when you access it that way. Its weird....

A workaround, could install a tether widget from the play store, turn on the WiFi, and once it shows in notifications you can tap it and go in and setup your password.

Yup, that's what I'm looking into now... My first place to go is here for the wireless tether apps:

But it's always sort of a crapshoot to find a version that works with whatever cocktail of settings needed for a particular device. I just remember it being a pain on HTC devices, so if anyone has a recommendation I'm all ears. Can't afford to lose wifi tether, it's gotten me out of to many jams.

Screw all that and nevermind, this widget does the job, I was over complicating things. This will get you into hotspot settings.
