Does the instructions in the beginning of this thread pertain to my stock, unlocked turbo currently on SU3TL-39?
Define unlocked. Is your bootloader unlocked, do you have TWRP custom recovery installed?

Some people define unlocked as able to take to another carrier, which the Droid Turbo already is SIM card unlocked, network unlocked.

When we say unlocked in this forum, we mean bootloader unlocked.

Ok, so once I unlock it and gain root I can then load the SU4TL-44?
Once you follow that guide you'll be newer firmware (MCG24.251-5 or MCG24.251-5-5) with stock Marshmallow 6.0.1.

Is there some reason you want to be on older Lollipop firmware?

After you unlock the bootloader, you can always downgrade back to Lollipop or even Kitkat (as long as you are careful), but the Sunshine exploit and procedures work better on newer firmware (simplistic explanation, but trust me).

What happened is I had a turbo with SU4TL-49 on it, unlocked and rooted and I really liked it, but I basically destroyed it and so I bought this replacement phone and was hoping to get back to the SU4TL-49.
Afraid to try the next ota thinking it might take me past this.

You getting this snow?

So you want to stay on Lollipop. OK.

The op can comment if Sunshine will work well on that. I know it used to.

I just want to get to SU4TL-44 or 49.

I already have the necessary files to unlock and root from my old turbo by using this https://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/psa-droid-turbo-android-6-0-update-t3379894
So you want to stay on lollipop. Your answer was yes.

MCG24.251-5 or MCG24.251-5-5 with stock Marshmallow 6.0.1 is more advanced and has more features than either SU4TL-44 or 49 (which is Lollipop).

I've provided link so you can upgrade instantly to those and leapfrog over OLD Lollipop SU4TL-44 or 49. But you want to stick with Lollipop, so go ahead and do it your way.

If you get to SU4TL-44 or 49, be sure to disable the OTA update file or it will nag you to death to update to Marshmallow... And unless you have pure stock, you will bootloop if you try to take those updates. This is why I was suggesting to forget about SU4TL-44 or 49 and go straight to Marshmallow...
