Can't seem to flash CWM after using your root package. Similar outcome?

Cwm is in the kernels. It is not flashed separately.

There is a new user guide on Sammy's support site which was updated on May 31 2013 and shows the OS as 4.1.2! Hope this means our update is close!
Does stock ICS 4.0.4 i777 have severe bug problems? I am still on 2.3.4 root stock and can't play Wild BLood
Is there any reason you need to be on complete stock? At this point, a lot of the custom roms have stomped out pretty much all the bugs. Should be safe to flash to one of those to get on the latest android version.

Just got am s2 i777 for my wife. Its stock and still on GB. Its factory unlocked and were on T-Mobile (t-maybe). I would root it and custom ROM it but its the wife's .
Is the only way for me to update through kies? Because kies is crashing on my PC right now.

This 4.0.4 update pretty well broke the phone anyway. The Kies update is up to 4.1.2 now. You can try the Kies update again by running as admin if you are using Windows 7. If that isn't working for you your only means of recourse would be to root and flash one of the many great roms we have for our phone.
If you strike out with Kies there are plenty of stickies in this thread that will lead you in the right direction. Mr.Cook is developing a rom that is based off the ATT update. Shoman has a pretty stable version of 4.1.2 as well. I personally prefer the 4.2.2 roms of which there are many to choose. Not sure why it would make any difference who's phone it is. Just make sure when you get the rom set up with the apps and launcher set up you like back it up so you can flash back to it if anything happens out of your control to cause a problem with the rom you are running.
If you are going to root and flash your phone you are better off doing it before you upgrade to Jellybean.
