New photo samples?

Damn, hush's photos are by far the best I've seen of everything posted from the Z so far. I just spend the past couple of hours sifting through random shots taken by the Z before finding this thread, so I'm very aware that the sharpness is quite a bit better in these pics.

Could it be there's a newer firmware update at play? Or are there still others out there taking photos with pre-production units? I know a lot of pics so far have come from websites that've recieved the Z, but what are the chances that Sony sent them pre-production phones vs. final retail units? It'd seem like a silly thing to do, but there's a real world difference between what they were able to do with the camera, and what hush was able to do.
Maybe my skills are not that bad after all!:highfive::fingers-crossed::cyclops::p

These images do seem better and thanks for posting them hush. I think some samples around must be from pre-production cameras and that is why they don't look as good.

I'm about to go to bed, but I did some quick comparisons with pics from the Pureview 808 and your pics. Seriously, it is hard to tell the difference in some pics... you're not BS'ing us, right? Those really came from a Z?

If so, holy crap I hope that is representative of the final retail models.

If someone wants to do a comparison to the 808, please go ahead. Plenty of pics on Google to choose from.

I'm not that surprised since sharpens has allot to do with the lens, and even the 808 has a crappy lens simply because it is impossible to design a good lens for such a small space. I think the 808 would be better for low light (with out HDR) performance and will manage more micro detail because of the sensor and software of the 808

I'm not BSing you. Those really came from an Xperia Z. I think the camera is really impressive, one of the best I've seen so far. :D

much noise

I decided to download the photos in original size on site mediafire.com

Photos are ok for color accuracy.

I noticed much noise
I noticed little definition / sharpness when using the zoom

I want to make it clear that the pictures for a Normal User is excellent!

But I believe in clarity and definition when using the zoom Iphone 5 and galaxy s3 have better performance

The Images posted in these thread are good.. 13MP snapper is good but not best (i doubt it will hold the top spot when others come out with 13mp cameras in next 2 months) .. reviews saying clarity is comparable to Butterfly 8mp snapper just low light photo capture is exceptionally good... HDR pics are better and with low noise... Sony should have improved imaging algo's too... still lot of noise in normal mode

It's a shame a company experienced in digital cameras ... photographs lose to a company that does not have much experience in this sector.

The aggravating factor may be that samsung can then use the same 13mp camera from Sony that makes.

Keep in mind that lots of factors need to be taken in consideration when deciding best image quality for a phone.

Compression rate and post-procesing will affect speed and image size. Manufacturers probably have to balance that out to provide the best experience.

This makes me very excited :)

Any clue as to why your pics show a lot less noise than other pics we've seen taken with the camera, including those from the couple of reviews we've seen so far? Could it be your phone has final software and those are still pre-production units?

If you wouldn't mind taking more pics and maybe video, I'd be very appreciative. Night time indoor/outdoor pics would be great too!

Thanks!

I think some pictures where taken with higher iso than others. As with any camera high iso causes noise

I agree reviewers tend to just use the phone's default config everytime. There are a number of factors needed to be considered before having a final say. One of which is the condition of the environment could affect images captured by a camera. Also with settings. They may have similar hardware but those that develop the device could configure the default settings to their own choice.
