>Yea thats weird but the others have come down in price also

Only the HD+ is the clear-cut bargain, which is probably why it's promoted. The HD has to compete with Walmart's $99 Hisense Sero 7 LT and the $69 NextBook 7, and is a harder sell even at the $129 sales price.

Very cool. Thanks for testing it. And glad you got all 5. From other comments, it sounds like that code can only be used once. I wonder what will happen if I take the actual coupon into the local store....
So, I took the coupon in to my local store and bought 3 (wish I could afford 5 like leapinlar). The coupon showed up as having already been used, but eventually they sold them to me at the $165 price. They were on sale this week for $179 anyway.

I asked if they had any idea why B&N was selling them at such discounts and mentioned that the rumor was that they were getting out of the nook business. They said no, they were just concentrating on improving their content.

It occured to me that another possible reason they (and nearly everyone else, it seems) are selling off their stock, is because they know of some fabulous new development in tablet technology -- a battery that lasts twice as long and charges in 5 minutes? -- that's being released soon. Anyway, I'm probably being rediculously over optimistic, but I like that idea better than thinking that B&N is going out of the tablet business.

My guess is that BN ordered way too many and have tons in their warehouses. Better to get them out in the market at a loss than have them age in their warehouse, where they will lose even more value when the next gen tablets come out.

You may have hit it there. The whole company is hurting financially now and they may need an infusion of cash from that inventory of stock in the warehouse. And I am not really sure it is at a loss for them.

Sent from my Nook HD+ running CM10.1 on emmc.

I see it as a repeat of the HP touchpad fire sale. They know for sure the hardware business is a loss anyway. It is better to minimize the loss by clearing up the inventory and get whatever cash value they can get asap. Google would have done it already if they could make a 9" Nexus tablet with 1920x1280 display for $149 and not lose money. The Nook HD+ would be a tough sell if not for the <$200 price tag to most ordinary non-techie end users. I expect some returns may lead to even cheaper refurbished products once people discover the slow and clunky UI, no sideloading option, no flash by default, and other limitations of the stock software. Likely only fans of the original Nooks who use it only as an e-reader would accept those. But $269 is a very hefty price tag for an e-reader. After this, there is maybe only 0.01% possibility for another Nook tablet made by B&N(actually was made by Foxconn like iPads and iPhones) The new strategy is clearly to focus on contents and let others do hardware. If there would be another Nook tab, B&N needs to find a company that's willing to take over the brand name for whatever it is worth....IMO...not much and unlikely.

UPDATE: Found the following link.. surprising and not looking good:

Nook Study is still available for Windows 7 at the moment....

So...this may be the best time to grab a nice Nook HD+ while it lasts... I would not bet on the extended warranty, though...
When I bought some HD+'s a couple of days ago, the salesfolk were pretty actively pushing the extended warranty. So I imagine it's still good. But, personally, I've never understood why anyone would spend money to insure a device for two years when the device itself will be outmoded in 6 months.

Just got a coupon in the mail saying, "Now through June 16th... NOOK HD Tablet Starting at $125. NOOK HD+ Tablet Starting at $145... Limit 5 per customer."
I bought a Nook HD 8 GB for USD 129, NO coupon code needed. HD+ is also on sale at USD149. B&N is running a Fathers Day sale this week, same price on B&N website.

At 129, this is a great value.

Best Buy $179 32gb hd+

Just walked in to Best Buy last week and they had the hd+ 16gb for $149 and the hd+ 32gb for $179. Like it was their regular price. I was shopping for a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, but the difference in price was just too tempting. Got the hd+ 32gb and am very happy with it, and with the $400 I saved by passing on the Samsung.

I just got the HD for my wife at Best Buy for $130.00. Would have gotten it at B&N but I had a gift card for Best Buy so went with that. I'm very happy with my HD+, but my wife really likes the size /weight of the HD so I got her that.

You can be sure that this weekend that sucker will have CM10.1 on emmc like mine has. (I asked her, she said she would like that better than stock)

My local B&N was sold out of the $149 HD+

They had some $129 HD left. Tempting and they close at 9 pm so I have 4+ hours to decide :p

I just bought in on the 32GB HD+ model. Reading my textbooks is a huge difference over my Nexus 7. The 16:10 resolution and screen size really makes this feel like a tablet: unlike the Nexus 7. Gonna give it a test run on the stock ROM before I dig in. I got mines at my local Target and there was tons of HD+ and HD left over.

looks like this sale is extending which in my experience means the device will shortly be discontinued but on the positive side there will be allot of new users such as myself and hopefully it will breed a healthy continuing development community.
