So I tried to update my wife's Note 3 that previously had root but I unrooted it when I gave her the device. It downloaded and when it went to install it said interrupted. What can I do to fix this so it will update. I do not care about root for her.

Did you so the sdfix? If you did you will need to revert that, uninstall busybox, unroot, and I rebooted. I dI'd that last step twice just to be sure the Custom went away.

I must be lost. What's the sdfix? I uninstalled root, turned on all the apps but it still failed. It does still say custom on boot.

It adds a line to the platform.xml file to enable write access to the SD card. You can also add the line manually but I just used the app sdfix.

Okay, I am going to try turning on the at&t apps and reinstalling to see if that works like it did for the previous person. I am hoping it will be simple. Thanks.

if your talking about getting the OTA to work you have to be pure stock with odex files

I have the stock rom that I only rooted with towelroot. To unroot, you just uninstall towelroot right? I still have the custom icon on the boot screen. I even did a full system restore and tried. Getting a failed at 27% install every time. Any ideas

you need to unroot and system restore to stock so go back to recovery and do a full wipe .. if that dont work your going to do a full restore with ODIN so find the NC2 Tar and flash it and then update and if you get the you cant update now wait 24 hours just go to settings and chnge the date to the next day and there you go.


You will loose root theres no root now... for now. so if you dont care about root and want new radios and better UI go a head.

Would it be easier just to have them reflash it at a Best Buy?

Update failed

Stock 4.4.2 no root. I downloaded the update- progress meter did go up to 111% but the update never installed and now it says wait 23:59 before trying again. Since it came from the carrier, we can't update with kies. Can I update any other way?

Does this flash the new radio?

So I don't want to take the chance bricking my wife's device. If there is a way I can update without using Odin or flashing let me know. I don't know if a Samsung center can do it for me.

If you are not rooted on NJ5 then how the heck did you dd the system dump?

Is there any difference between NC2 and NJ5? UI differences, different sounds, unlocked bootloader, etc?

I'm using my AT&T Note 3(Not rooted) on Cricket atm. So I don't know when or if I'll ever be pushed the update. I figured I would since AT&T owns them now, but idk. I'm hoping it's on Kies soon or someone can figure something out for me
