Don't worry if you are rooted. I tried both and confirmed it using rootcloak(xposed framework).

So I had a look and this is what I found:
1) Mounts /system and /hidden as /preload and checks ro.build.fingerprint
2) Update checks for patches applied to system apps using md5 hash. If patch is applied, update is cancelled.
Ie. If system apps are modified, no update for you!
3) Deletes:

Just goto settings>About Phone>Software Update

My phone is rooted and ota updates are blocked because the system is not original.

Download and flash the latest stock rom from samfirmware and then root again. Don't forget to backup your data using TB or something similar.

You won't get ota update on rooted rom.

My phones rooted but I got the update.
You are only denied update if you edit system files. Use xposed framework for those dirty works

My phone used to heat up upto 48-51° while on charger.
But now after updating to latest firmware, I'm using WiFi hotspot and the phone is on charging but still the temperature is 39°
