Will it run crysis?:D:p
I LOL'ed really hard at that comment :-D

I'm planning on buying a Motorola tablet by Christmas time, just on the fence on whether to get the; Original Xoom, Xoom Family Edition, or Xoom 2 (If its even released by then)!

Note that there is also weight difference between the original xoom and xoom family edit. nothing drastic, but:

Original: 708 grams (WiFi); 730 grams (4G LTE)

Family Edition: 650 grams

I picked the XFE up last Friday. I had been looking at the galaxy tab 10.1, but would have had to wait till Christmas to purchase the 16gb with a $500 price tag. I almost walked right by this display since I had looked at the xoom previously and didn't care for how big/clunky it was. The XFE is very comparable to the gtab 10.1, but was $120 less expensive and has an SD card slot and HDMI out (which the gtab does not have). So far I have no complaints. Best thing is, this tablet has drastically improved my Droid X's battery life :)

Hey skennelly, what's your opinion of that new ips screen they put on there? and do you know if its still Gorilla Glass? And how is the battery life treating you? Thanks!

Really thinking of getting one come Christmas time, unless the Xoom 2 is out by then!

Do you have the original Xoom? If so, how does the screen quality look compared to the original. Does it look look like the screen is the same size (as in it'll be the exact fit) as the original?

I believe it is still gorilla glass as I have already dropped it a few times and the screen is still flawless. The only negative I've been able to find about it is when the screen is all black(boot animation) and you can see the leds lighting the panel in a few places but other than that this thing has been great.
Also it sucks how there are nooooooooooooooo accessories for it, except for of course the $40 folio BB has :(

I think it's great. I don't have many comparisons to it, but it is very clear at any angle. It doesn't get that blacked out appearance that most lcd's get.

ICS upgrade

I got one and its a really good product, but it seems that the upgrade it is not confirmed by Motorola for the Xoom Family Edition, but only for the normal Xoom (same hardware!!!).
Given I bought one I'm not happy at all. I thought with the google participitation it was going to be updated at least for one year.It does not make any sense and it's against google android principles.
I also wrote to Engadget about the situation.

If you own one or plan to buy one, please write to Motorola and Engadget about the upgrade. Maybe it will make Motorola change their mind!
