Hi,

I just acquired a Motorola Droid Turbo XT1254 on eBay.
The phone arrived 2 days ago (I live in France) with no surprises, everything looked fine in the box (screen protection film on the phone with help logos on it, charger, etc.).

When I turned it on, it was already setup in Canadian French and OS was Lollipop (version 5.1) 23.11.39_en.us.
After a bit of research I found out that the phone had been manufactured in july 2015 which could explain why it is preinstalled with that version of OS.
Since everything on the box is written in French, I assume it was originally made for the Quebec market.
As all XT1254 models, the bootloader is unfortunately locked :(

My question is :
Will it ever be possible to root my new phone? I already miss Titanium Backup and AdAway and don't need all Verizon's bloatware installed on it (WTF would I do with a NFL app in France?).

Thanks.

For Titanium Backup and AdAway, you are out of luck until someone figures out root and /or unlocks the boatloader for 5.1 on the turbo. The bloatware apps can be stopped from running by manually going to Settings/ Apps and pressing "Force Stop" for each unwanted app, but will still take up memory. For an accelerated process, there is a tool by @rootjunky you can download that can do the same thing with a computer and connecting it via usb, and running adb / fastoot via command prompt. The zip file contains everything including instructions, and it can found here.

Just unzip and make sure you follow the instructions carefully because it is apparently possible to brick your phone using the block-bloat-ware tool.

More than likely, no, as for the apps, just disable them. It's not like removing them increases your space, anyway.

Tapped out from my Motorola Droid Turbo, featuring Android 5.1. Please pardon my brevity.
