Someone said on here before he had Vodafone boot logo. Anyway, I will wait for OTA. I don't want to wipe or reset, people said their phones were reset while updating.
It recognises where you have an unbranded phone somehow and doesn't install any carrier nonsense. I have the LG stock bootlogo and no bloatware whatsoever.

Also, I just did an LG backup to my SDcard and restored it after the wipe, took 5 mins to have everything back to normal but running Nougat.

But why!? Whats correct now? Some say they didn't need to reset, some say theirs were reset, some did backup (for whatever reason). Is it safe now to install this ROM or will it reset user data?

If you choose upgrade when flashing, you will probably encounter fcs and have to do factory reset which will wipe everything. If you choose refurbished when flash - everything will be wiped. So maybe you havent flashed firmware before, but yeah, internal gets wiped. People did backup so they could restore theyr things, nothing abnormal there. If tou dont understand these basic things, then just wait for ota. Its safe to flash unless your hands are growing out of your ass.

OTA's upgrades never wipe data nor apps. Iphone updates never wipe data nor apps.

Yes but this is not ota. This is raw whole rom. If you upgrade it when flashing as I said it might break things and that will result in wiping or if you want clean install, it will wipe data too. If you cant be bothered to make bacjup with lg app and restore it afterwards(takes few mins even for few gigs of data), then wait for ota from your carrier etc.

Carrier Bloatware

I'm not sure about the g5 as I haven't bothered to root it to date however, going back to my days with the g3, carrier bloatware was stored in data/OP folder on the device. This folder was NOT touched by a kdz flash.
The data/OP folder depended on where your device was originally sourced and could be deleted (with root) to remove all carrier bloatware including boot animations.
I suspect that this is still the case or a very similar system judging by those reporting no addition of carrier bloatware after flashing this kdz.

Are you kidding? How did you get root with locked bootloader or I don't know anything about root.
Can we get root with locked bootloader?
P.S. I have marketing version and it doesn't support official unlock bootloader.
No I am not, I have simply created a new zip flashable package for H850. IT is so easy merge system_xxx files from a kdz firmware and create flashable zip....
Anyway I will post here a C# program that i have created to merge system_xx partition files to create a new working system.img file. ;)

this appears to be correct. can confirm i flashed the Vodafone KDZ with no bloatware. software version shows as v20a-EUR-XX . which before i was v10i-EUR-XX
i did have to factory reset however as it was unable to decrypt my data apparently?

I don't have a carrier. Why isn't their a world OTA, I don't understand this update politics.

Ok. After 24 hours everything is working great. Maybe even better than on MM. I like it so far. The dark themes are ok, but changed back to light, because they were not enough minimalistic for my taste. And the notifications did stay white, which defeats the purpose in my opinion.

As for the install. I had huge problems. On the first try I probably got a bad download and I got an error on 21% of the install. After that it only booted into download mode. I tried a few times it always stopped at 21%. Tried to use 10i kdz to go back, got the same error, but on 15%.

Luckily LG Bridge detected the phone and I could repair my install through it. Everything was back to normal MM after that.

Tried again with the fresh install and this time it went without problems. I could not do refurbish mode, because I got an error, but an update. And after the first reboot it detected my data, but said it was corrupted and it said I have to do a factory reset. After that the phone booted without problems.

I think it has something to do with boot up pattern lock I use for data protection, so you should probably disable that before the flash.

Yeah It Works

Is that kdz work with my LG H850 from South Africa/UAE? I'm dying to try nougat. And there's no way to unlock bootloader yet for my device.
I've got it running on my G5 H850 , there is no bloatware but one app from orange which can be disabled. Also you will have the CAST error every time you reboot. But I see on some post that you can delete the network cast files once rooted. haven't had the time to do that yet or figure out root for Nougat.
