Apologies if I'm breaking rules or in the wrong place. I figure anyone still here is in a similar boat: Sprint contract, G3 near end of life.

So my Sprint contract is a family plan that was based on 2 yr contract that gave upgrade deals. It also provides the whole family with unlimited data. It's not an option right now to switch plans/carriers so I am stuck here. That means I am going to have to pay full price for a phone and I will want it to last as long as possible. I hate that LG/Sprint failed on providing MM, and now with Nougat out this OEM phone is even more out of date. USB port stopped working a month ago, cracks in several places, now the screen is dropping touch in one area making typing near impossible. It's time.

Best options I see right now:
LG V20 coming out soon @ $800+
Pixel or Pixel XL coming out soon @ ~ $800+
Nexus 6P @ ~ $500
Nexus 5X @ ~ $400
Samsung something something, I don't want to do Sammy.

I'm thinking the last year Nexi will get updates through same Android version as the V20. It seems to me the Nexi are best options. Probably be able to run with a new Nexus 6P 2-3 years more, while a Pixel might hold up another year beyond that but at that cost is it worth it?

My thought is the 6P with metal will hold up a little longer and internals are also a tad better than the 5X.

Am I missing any obvious candidates or is there a reason the Nexi at current price will not hold up long enough to make it a good deal. I'm kind of think cost per months viable here.

I welcome any thoughts.

I would personally go for the 5x or 6p, the new pixel phones don't look that good and the last nexus will last you a good 3-4 years.

I'm going for the OnePlus 3 soon. It's only $400 and compares equally to most flagships. Also, since you're on xda, OnePlus 3 has some of the best developer support. There are tons of ROMs being made and a huge community.
