Nexus 5x Battery Life Thread

I got a brand new N5X from amazon the other day, unopened, I also bought a couple spare 'OEM' batteries while I was at it, but I hear people are just packainging lower mAH crap batteries in nexus stickers and reslling them?

I have yet to open my new N5X and compare the battery (nor do I really want to tear the covering off the battery to check what's underneath) but does anyone think these look like legit OEM batteries? Since they are (presumably) unused, and the one in the phone could be two years old, might it be worht replacing the one in the phone? I'm putting off taking the back cover off because I ended up snapping the contacts and could never get the back on properly again with my Nexus 5.
One battery has a manufacture date of 02/11/15, the other 01/12/15, no sure what hte one in the phne is like. I bought some copper shims to put on the CPU that over hears I will have a loot at it then, but I also might end up sending it off to china to get the ram +storage). upgrade

Battary drain Screen off
Some weeks ago i suddenly had to charge my nexus 5x much more often. At this time CM13 was installed. So i diceded to upgrade to Lineageos 15.1. Unfortunately the battery drain was still much to high. I loose like 5% per hour during idle (only wifi turned on). I installed AccuBattery, Wakelock Detecor, ElementalX kernel, but i could not detect something, which is causing the battery drain (see my pictures). Do u guys have any other sggestions for me? How many mA/h are you lossing during idle? I have the impression that ~120mA/h is way to high.

Hi guys! After test android 6, 7 and 8 in my nexus 5x. I have got the feeling that the battery life is better with android 6 but I am not sure. In all the version I used greenify and magisk with battery improves. I think that the implementation and when I disable background app services is better in 6.

Hey everyone just getting back into this phone has been a while, been trying different ROMs etc. I am running AOSIP unrooted and I'm having issues with the battery. Cpu does not seem too deep sleep, instead it stays at lowest frequency, I had accubattery installed but it didn't really help me narrow anything down other than I have a problem. Location services are on and I use Facebook app but haven't had problems deep sleeping with other ROMs, here are my cpu stats over a short period with maybe 15 mins of screen on time.really love this ROM so I'm here trying to sort the battery issues, all help is appreciated. Have blocked wakelocks with app ops from most main offenders, no change.

I think it's because of the preinstalled kernel in this ROM, try an other one, I can recommand you sphinx, tell me if it fixed it, if not I will try to help you the best as I can ?
Please dont.. over 6 hours on naked browser, like idling with minimum brightness. Others can do better with some other 3rd party app.

8I think the best test without actually having the phone yet is to compare the battery life of the Nexus 5X to the original Nexus 5 of 2013 under the same test conditions.
The Ars Technica test showed the Nexus 5 getting 400 minutes and the Nexus 5X getting 548 minutes using the same test. That is a 37% improvement of the Nexus 5X compared to the Nexus 5.
The Phone Arena test showed the Nexus 5 getting 4 hr 50 min and the Nexus 5X getting 6 hr 25 min using the same test. That is a 33% improvement of the Nexus 5X compared to the Nexus 5.

Based on those comparisons I'd expect the Nexus 5X to get about 35% better battery life compared to the Nexus 5 during actual usage. When I first got my Nexus 5 I was getting just barely 4 hours screen on time. At a 35% increase the Nexus 5X should get like 5.5 hours screen on time.
I can live with that. Plus, stand by time should be improved with Doze.
My Nexus 5X is coming late next week. I'll just have to wait and see how it goes.5Hi
From what I can tell when the phone is covered ambient display doesn't come on as the proximity sensor knows it is covered up, try it with your hand over the sensor and pick up the phone, no ambient display, so no it will not turn on in your pocket, happy days.

Ambient display is nothing new, you used to be able to set Android phones to turn the display on when a notification came through yonks ago, the only difference today is they can optimise the power draw on AMOLED displays by making it all black with white text, add features like pick up to wake etc.
For an LCD display you are correct in that ambient display uses the same power as if the screen was full on, but it is only on for a few seconds so overall isn't going to make very much difference, and if it is on a desk or table and we can see the notification isn't important, we've saved some power anyway from not going into the phone and reading it. I'm pretty sure as well doze mode will turn off ambient display, so it's not lighting up at night when the phone has been idle for a while and we are unlikely to be with it, plus it doesn't operate when it's in a pocket or covered case.
If we say ambient display is on for 4 seconds and it gets triggered 100 times a day (unlikely for most), that's around 7 minutes taken from our screen on time, so probably not noticeable overall, but if that has saved us turning on the phone and reading irrelevant messages some of the time, we've probably broken even or gained some.
Just enjoy the feature I say and not worry about battery power.

Wow. I'd suggest cancelling the order now. Ended up with almost 4.5 hours of SOT, and it far exceeds my expectation.
Really not sure what I would be doing to need more SOT. It's a phone.4
PA showed the display on the 5X to have 487nits. So maybe 150 is about 31%?
