It doesn't really have to have resistance for reverse. I think in the manual or maybe in the software I talks about how channel C and D are for reverse and other functions since it isn't as customizable as channels A and B.

So I have a wiring harness since that was required to keep my door chimes and OnStar. This wiring harness also gave me easy access to ign. power, const. power, ground, reverse wire, and also an amp turn on wire I believe.

I just tapped channel C to the reverse wire and grounded the other.

You then have to hook up your computer and put it in reverse to see where the voltage is in order to act as a key press.

No need for relays or resistors unless your going to try to setup multiple buttons.

I then programmed the key press as a camera button where I have tasker taking the camera button and opening the special app.

Hope that helped explain it a little better, really isn't that complicated once you know what your doing.

Thanks. I just got my joycon exr and am starting play and looks like it will do exactly what I need. One BIG problem is though is that (since it emulates a KB) the soft keyboard doesn't come up anymore. How did you get around this?

I set tasker to bring up the setting input method for certain app I know I'll need the keyboard for and then you just flick the switch off for physical keyboard, but your steering controls still work. Apparently someone said that tasker can automatically do that but I haven't been able to figure it out.

My current problem is that I'm using external keyboard helper for keyboard shortcuts to launch certain apps via my steering buttons, but when using this as your keyboard setting you can't turn physical keyboard off in order to use the virtual keyboard. Instead I have to switch my keyboard settings back to androids keyboard and turn off physical keyboard.
I have tried to talk to the developer about this and says he plains to add a virtual keyboard in the future but it isn't on the top of his priorities.

Thats all the info I have right now... hopefully I didn't confuse you too much.

Have you tried both? If so are they the same

Yes I'v used both. Timurs is more for a fixed car installation since he has OTG charge set on upon boot. Where FAUX is not set as OTG charge you have to do it yourself, but FAUX is more of a performance kernel since you can overclock and what not... Just not ideal for a fixed car installation.

Kuchar, sorry this is going more off topic but how are you having tasker sense the input from the joycon? AFAIK the joycon emulates a KB but there is no option that I've found in tasker or tasker help files, even google only pulls up one instance (which no resolution was found). So how are you doing it?

Also you mentioned you talked to a dev... for tasker? I'm just after android not disabling the virtual KB.

I was only using tasker for the camera button. for volume and track buttons you just set them as a key on your keyboard and then modify the keylayout file for that key to be what you want.

For my app buttons I'm using external keyboard helper and setting keyboard shortcuts within the app.
The dev I talked to was the one for the external keyboard helper. He is the one that says he is thinking about adding a virtual keyboard because using his app for the keyboard shortcut you lose the virtual keyboard unless you change the layout.

To solve this I'm currently using a mini Bluetooth keyboard.

If you need anymore help feel free to ask!

I still don't understand how you connect and use joycon to use wheal controls ?
is it connected to nexus via usb ?
is there any guide how to setup joycon for ''dumies'' ?

You have nexus 7 connected to external usb ... changing volume on nexus, in software, you control usb dac volume ?

Can you drow some connection diagram ? (if you have time)

Yes the joycon is connected to a hub in the dash. the joycon also taps into my steering controls.

Using the joycon software on your laptop you set up each button as a key using the virtual keyboard in their software. If the key you want isn't available you need to set it as a key you will remember and edit that keys action in the keylayout file.

Not much to it honestly. I could make a video sometime if people want.

I think I get it...
So you have joycon connected to usb hub which is connected to nexus 7...
nexus 7 see joycon as external keyboard
via PC you configured joycon to send specific key which then nexus see as a press on usb keyboard...

tnx

This is the DVB-T tuner I bought.

In the developers thread he has a list of compatible tuners.

I had bose also which is why I installed all new speakers to a 4 channel amp. You have to do this since I do not think there is a way to tap into your bose speakers without keeping your factory head unit. I'm sure there is but I just rather have better audio.

As far as getting power from your ignition you can easily look up your vehicles wiring diagram to find the ACC or IGN power wire to tap into for a charger. I had to get an aftermarket wiring harness in order to keep my door chimes and onstar which also had all the wires that I needed on it, as far as constant power, ign, reverse light wire, and an amp turn on lead.
