Currently, i've got the same setup. However, i hear a loud popping noise when the ignition is switched on. When the N7 gets powered first, and the amp sometime later, everything's just fine. Got an idea what's the problem here?
I have the same problem, only mine pops only when I turn the ignition off. I suspect its the immediate loss of voltage whereas the on/off signal coming from a head unit would be more of a gradual decrease of voltage. I haven't verified this yet though. A capacitor across the popping amps remote turn on to ground should fix that.

I need to pay someone to do this in northern Florida. This is amazing. Maybe I will hit up some local audio car shops to see if they have experience with it.

Any one seem to have this issue?

I have my tasker app to turn the screen on and off based off if there is a charge present at the usb port.

Basically, if I leave my car off for more than about 10 minutes, and then turn the car back on, the tablet won't turn on, I have to removed the usb cable from the port and plug it back in for it to turn on.

However, if I turn off the car, let the tablet sleep and turn the car back on within a minute or two, the tablet wakes as normal.

I thought it might be a loose usb port but seeing as it works within a minute and doesn't work in ten seems on.

Possibly not enough power at the voltage regulator?

Looks like a really nice and clean install.

However all those accessories and all that wiring looks daunting and seems like a big hassle. To me it would be easier to just buy an aftermarket head unit, stow it away some where like in the glove box, etc. Mount the Nexus in the dash and just connect it to the head unit via USB. That way you've got your charging and audio all set up and you also have volume control. To me it just seems like a better option, unless of course you like the challenge.

Of course I realize that alot of head units don't support some Android apps through USB so your mileage may vary (pun intended).

Is there a way to use a Galaxy S3 as a Bluetooth keyboard with the Nexus 7?
Humm I remember finding an app that would make this possible but have not had a chance to try it. Think the app was called tablet remote
