I recently got a Nexus 7 also and plan to do an in-dash install. After looking at a number of projects like this around the web there is one thing I cannot find a really good solution for: hands free Bluetooth for my phone.

Ideally I would like to use the tablet to make and receive calls via Bluetooth through my phone just like you can with many Bluetooth enabled in dash decks.

I have looked at a couple apps to aid in this like: Tablet Talk, and GrooveIP
While these could possibly provide the feature the remaining problem would be the microphone built in to the tablet.

Have you thought about this for your install? If not, does anyone else know of a setup that would provide an ideal hands-free Bluetooth experience for making and receiving calls?
The solution is the JVC x50-bt

Used in conjunction with tablet talk it is the ultimate in smart car connectivity

That's how my friends is hooked up

Phone audio and calls go through Bluetooth to the deck
as well as audio from the tablet
the phone is also connected to the tablet through tablet talk
So all calls are handle by the tablet but audio is fed through the speakers and us voice into the mic of the deck
Now the music playing on the tablet stops since the audio feed of the deck is switched to call , when the call is finished audio from tablet returns

Yah, I've asked that very question in several places and there doesn't seem to be a solution for it. Ideally it would work like any other bluetooth enabled car deck out there that links up to your phone and can make and receive calls through your phone via the tablet.

If every BT deck or stock car audio system with BT built in can do it I'm not sure why there isn't an app out there that adds this functionality to your tablet.

So for all you app developers out there, I would would be willing to pay for an app that does just that.

The JVC is what works best believe me .....you cannot have phone audio transfered to a tablet , probably a security design I. The os

I liked the Nexus 7 I bought for my car so much I just bought my second Nexus 7. This time I got the 16GB as it was the same price as the 8GB one I bought for my dash. Going to just use this one as a tablet and play with it, rooting, flashing ROM's etc.

I love this thing. :)

Anyone try this:

1. Audio out headphone jack to crossover

2. Crossover out to amps
-most crossover have sub, front and rear output with gain control for sub
- this allows separation of sub ( low freq) from mids and highs
- also allows separate volume control of sub through crossover

With this you can run any input to crossover, even some Bluetooth audio receiver so you can connect wirelessly

This is the HU and setup I settled on a few months ago. Works very well. I would highly recommend this HU.

Any electrical type peeps out there wanna help me with a problem? There was a humming sound coming fro the speakers along with alternator noise when the engine is running. This only happens when I have the power plugged into the tablet. If the tablet is running off of its own battery and not plugged in there is zero hum or whine from alternator. I purchased a ground loop isolator for the power plug the tablet is getting it's power from. This took care of the alternator whine but the low pitched hum is there still present at high volume. Any ideas?

sometimes crossed polarity on speaker wires or lack of shielding can cause this... Check all your connections for loose wires as well...

I bought an rca ground loop isolator from radio Shack today and installed it in between the volume control and the amp and it's completely gone. Perfect. Now 100% happy. Not sure if I needed the first one now that I put on the power socket but it's perfect now so I ain't gonna mess with it. :)
