you should go to some hip trendy coffee shop, tell them you're an apple employee beta testing the device, flaunt the device with an ios skin/launcher, watch them ooh and ahh at the new ios/ipad mini features, claim how innovative apple is, then at the end, reveal that it's actually android.
would love to see their reactions.

UPDATE

Dad playing the the New "iPad Mini" at an Apple loving family function other night. :victory:

He has an iPhone, and iPad, he loved the form-factor of the 'Mini' 7 inch display. He was asking about pricing and availability, then started teling me about the October release rumour.

At the end of the night I confessed it's not an iPad Mini, it is a Nexus 7, and he can have one ordered that night and shipped within a few days to his doorstep, all starting at $199.

Thanks forum members for the links to the iOS theme launcher's and all the PM's ;)

Tether it to a 4G phone and get better speeds than Starbucks Wi-Fi if you really want to wow them.

(Nearly 18 months now, Apple, since the thunderbolt was released...how TF do you manage to convince the world that you are the tech leader and innovator when you are that far behind on your flagship device's primary technological characteristic?)

Maybe Samsung makes them and you can buy from them to help to defray their legal bills.
That would be the best thing I've ever seen in my life....
They need to make an apple, with Samsung written across is with one of those red lines crossing it out..would be pretty funny
But the Word.Samsung needs to be ABOVE the red line :D of course :D

Agreed, tethered to 4g is amazing!
(and before the data police come stomping in saying we the reason no unlimited bla bla bla...when I'm using my nexus7 tethered, I'm using it the SAME way (prolly LESS data actually cuz more gaming) as i would my Gnex that it's tethered to. I'm not hogging bandwidth or anything lol. If i.didn't have nexus7 tethered, i would just be using my Gnex using the same amount of data...)
Oops...sorry
There i go getting all off on tangent lol
Sry guys!(AND gals!)
Back to trolling apple users into thinking we have ipad minis lmfao....i love this, i cannot wait until the next person asks me if ipad mini...i might try to record what is said lol
Thinking about telling them " Yea its the "Next-Us Pad" they wanted to make it like something you should share so they called it an "Us" pad. Just gotta ask for it by name at whatever store you wanna buy it at"

After coming the new Asus Infinity tablet, and after returning/exchanging my 4th one caused by QC issues, feeling bitter, I thought I'd never (At least until QC is fixed) purchase another Asus tablet again.

Opportunity struck when I was bored and tablet-less, to purchase the Nexus 7 that was on hold from a friend with my name on it. Supposedly I purchased the last Nexus 7 within a 170Mi radius of local stores relative to me, remarked a District Manager of the store.

A shot in the dark, yes, after being through hell with the Infinity.

I absolutely pre-judged this devices 7inch screen, lack of rear camera, lack of ports, etc to justify buying Asus' Flagship latest Transformer tab.

I cant seem to put this damn thing down, I use it constantly, the form-factor is a perfect size and weight, the back feels great to hold. No issues with QC (yet), not a single dead or hot pixel, no screen raising or separation, no creaking or squeaking, this unit feels solid. FYI: My unit is from the 'C8 Serial Number' series.

The biggest issue I have yet are from the bystanders who approach me wherever I seem to go and ask me about my 'iPad Mini' or how did I get an 'iPad Mini'.

Within a 40 minute coffee shop sitting, 7 people approached me asking if it was an 'iPad' mini. I spent twice as long explaining them it's not an iPad Mini, its a Nexus 7, it runs Android OS, etc. Then bombarded by their questioning on why I didn't wait for the iPad Mini and ridiculed as to why I didn't have an iPad yet.

This is my first 'real' Android device, let alone tablet (not counting the Infinity which never left my house, except for the BestBuy exchanges).

I've learned that the confusion of the Nexus 7 for an iOS/Apple is inevitable.

So I raced home and came up with an easy solution... attached are photos.

Yes it's actually easier going with their beliefs of it being an iPad Mini then quickly hiding the device in my bag and watch them try and snap photos from across the room. It also gives me an excuse to quick-pitch the curious that 'they never saw this', and 'we never and cannot talk' which usually does the trick.

A fun game I am enjoying as I await my case to arrive...

Cheers to all the newfound friends and support on here. I'm blessed.

Noooo!! An Apple logo on that Nexus 7? That's sacrilege! I must cover thine eyes!

Apple is going to sue the op for making a fake iPad which is much better than the real one.

I was inspired by this post as i am proud to be a staunch Android supporter. Got an apple sticker and after arguing with my internal moral compass,i stuck it on the back of my nexus 7. I then proceeded to flaunt it to all the Apple zombie sheep in the office, telling them Apple has sent me one for testing. When they asked to have a look and saw Android on it, the said 'but this is not ios'. I replied 'Apple has scrapped ios on the mini and included Android as its so popular.' 2 of them went straight to google to confirm this 'new rumour. 4 of them said stuff along the lines of 'cool, about time'

Needless to say they were not happy when i told them I was messing with them.

Apple sticker is too big. It shouldn't cover the "Nexus" logo, just to be doubly confusing.

NICE! Did the same in my office with the same results. They literally ran back to their desktop's and hit Google.

:D

PS- I am running an iOS launcher that looks just like iPad. (Only when trolling of course, I love android widgets far to much to keep as my main launcher)

Nothing is worse than having someone come up to you while food shopping and ask you if your galaxy note is "the iPad". Pretty sad when someone doesn't know what an iPad looks like yet thinks anything that is hand held is one.

Lemme guess... you NEVER call facial tissue "Kleenex" if it's another brand... right? And you always say dessert gelatin instead of "Jello", adhesive bandage and not "Band Aid", felt tip pen instead of "Magic marker"?

The fact is, brand names get used generically and a lot of the general public call all touch screen cell phones an "iPhone" and call all tablets "iPads". If this upsets you, great. Just be sure you never say Hi Lighter, Brillo Pad, Scotch Tape, Jacuzzi, Thermos, Popsicle, Velcro, and a million other examples unless YOU are using that exact item.

You're absolutely right, we should embrace "iPhone" and "iPad" as our new monkiers.
