I have pur stock GRI40, but still getting assert failed... (on file DroidSansMono.ttf)
Trying to update from a rooted GRI40 + Amon RA:I modified the update.zip. No existing app verification, no update of the org. recovery. Testet with Amon-Ra 2.2.1 (Signature verification turned off!)
1) flash update.zip
2) flash su.zip
I stay on root, everything working like under 2.3.3

Phone stuck in X screen.
I'm able to "talk" to it with adb shell but it won't finish booting.
Any ideas?

Thanks. What does it reset? will it mess up patches I made to the system, like changes to system libraries and fonts?If you can go into recovery try a factory reset. Sometimes old app data can interfer with the phone booting.
Did you change any font files to another font, or have an app that changed the fonts to a custom font. If so, you can just revert all fonts back to stock and then it should not have the assert error on the font file.
Why we are supposed to manually download the zip file to install.
Does this won't be pushed using OTA?

what do you mean? Did you flash superuser after installing the update.zip or you just rebooted your device, so the existing superuser app won't work?
