Question NFC icon visibility.

Hi All,

I have a question that maybe someone can answer. What is the reason that some of the 23u have icon on the notification bar and some don't when nfc is enabled. In example whatever I do I do not have it, on main screen and when I pull notification bar but some ppl have nfc icon when they pull the bar. We exclude carriers, phone models, we all have same march update. Anyone?

It's one of the good lock customization apps from Samsung let's you hide different icons from statusbar but when you bring the notification center down it shows all of them

We try that too. Even if set the toggle to nfc visible is still don't, and ppl tgat have nfc visible do not use good look at all.

I can confirm that it doesn't show up on and down pulled notification bar with goodlock. Weird.

More weird is why some ppl have it and some don't... Same country, same sim carrier, same model, same firmware, unlocked or not, some ppl have nfc icon and some not. We even use sane wallet google Pay... We have same watches...

This is csc features so it varies with the active csc (carrier/region) you have.

We have the same CSC and we are from the same region.

GoodLock and Install QuickStar. In QuickStar there is a setting to hide whatever icons you don't like. Just tested NFC and it's gone.

Otherwise it's only there when dropped down or actively being used, you can't make it always visible, it will only show if you are using NFC

I edited my comment but it looks like you posted in the meantime.

Otherwise it's only there when dropped down or actively being used, you can't make it always visible, it will only show if you are using NFC​

I'm using nfc all the time, I do mot turn off it. It is not visible even with dropped down... But as I said ppl with exactly same CSC, firmware and sim carrier have it.

Odd. Did you flash a different firmware/csc? You could try (at your own risk) flashing different firmware in Odin.

Also just curious, why do you care about seeing an icon that can only be seen when full dropped down and you keep NFC on all the time?

It all started when one of our colleagues ask if we have nfc icon on our local forum... Than some ppl have the icon and some not, we start to dig in why and we still do not know the reason. Most of the 23u arw bought unlocked, we share same carrier, same payment method, same CSC, same firmware, we all are after ota march, i do not need this icon at all as I did not see it back from s10* so like 4 y or more. We just dig to want to know the reason, same phones but diff icon baheve? That is odd... And what other thing is diff that we don't know yet? And why?

Dirty firmware updates can cause odd bugs, even OEM ones.

Dirty flashing is just flashing new firmware over old firmware over the course of the devices life. Odd things happen. My Tab S7+ (at the time) was having odd issues and even factory reseting didn't fix it.

ODIN flashed the firmware and fixed everything.

Well there was only 2 ota updates so far. None of us altered the firmware.

Officially, yes. S23 U had been in development for a while, chances are they tested with OneUI 4.x or 5.0 and ultimately shipped with OneUI 5.1.

Factory reset and/or ODIN flash and see if it shows up is the only answer. If it does, mystery solved, if not, chances are you'll never find out as the development community for Samsung is pretty slim compared to other phones.

I have checked and it is avilable to only these four CSC (in whole OXM group) . Does your CSC belongs to any of these?

• EVR
• SFR

I have modified my CSC and I am able to get NFC icon in drop down, So it's CSC features only.
