So I9000 running on latest cm version is not able to connect to computer.
It takes charge but doesn't show USB debugging option.
Also has reboot in recovery removed from Reboot option?

Tip 7 times on "Buildnumber" in "Phone-Info". Then you get "Developer Options" where you can select "Advanced Reboot" and "USB-Debuging"

Installing from external sd card

Hi, I have a problem with my internal memory ,its not dead only corrupted.I was wondering if there is a way to install ROM from the external sd card.Having read through many posts I still haven't found a clear description to sort this out. This was the closest i got. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1893354&page=2.Unfortunately the link is dead. Thanks for reading .Your reply is highly appreciated.

The most irritating thing about this ROM is the loss of data access. I travel a lot and often when I get home I have a full but greyed data signal and the only way I can restored data connectivity is by rebooting the phone :(

That's Google connectivity. Just wait a while.

Back to CM10 from CM10.1 again. Audio quality when using A2DP is fine now but sound transmission still stutters unacceptably. Guess 4.1.2 may as well be the final stop for my SGS before retiring :/

I don't use A2DP but solved stuttering by bumping up Min CPU frequency from 100 Mhz to 200 Mhz. :good:

Stuttering when using A2DP under CM10.1 or any other kind of stuttering? Bumping min CPU freq. will probably not work for the A2DP problem because it occurs under load when CPU is clocked well above 200 MHz.

This version is simply very slow, and I found out that it's very much related to the status of the battery.
When the battery drains to as low as 60%(!!) it barely moves, although when looking at the CPU freq. it shows 1000MHz when using the device.

Moving between apps is extremely slow, and you might stay waiting 10 sec to get the next app.

Do yourself a favor and either switch to 10.1 or go back to 9. This one simply doesn't worth your time.

I totally disagree. This rom works very smoothly on my device.

I often switch from google navigator to dialer to music, while driving, and the switch is almost instantaneous.

I NEVER had to wait for 10 seconds to switch between apps!

What you should do once every few days, is reboot your device

USB mount unavailable on the latest build

Running build 20130405.003239

It appears that on the latest builds (noticed it a couple of day back) I am unable to mount the phone as a drive on my laptop. The option for "mounting the drives" does not appear.

This looks like a regression.

Let me know if you need the logs for it.

If I need to reboot my device every few days, then CM missed its point on 10.
None of the other versions ever required such a bad restriction, and it's unacceptable.
One question for you - do you schedule these reboots, or do you do it as it starts to.. lag?

The "you are holding it wrong", made me roll on the floor. TKS dude!

I had the same experience with every rom I tried.
I had to reboot every 4-5 days. Which, to me, is nothing (I reboot my PC at least once a day :) )
I do not think it's CM's fault, it's the combination of our RAM + the way Android manages it.

It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Reporting Bugs

You are allowed to report bugs only at the SGSCM10 bug tracker. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.

REPORT BUGS IN THIS THREAD ONLY

    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. The following is a useful format to follow.

    Code:
    What is your--
    Phone model:
    Radio (baseband):
    CM version:
    CM Download url:
    Gapps version:

About 4.2, I don't really see any feature which will make you want to upgrade right away (from a user point of view).

From a device point of view, there shouldn't be much difficulties for us as most parts are already open source. The main difficulty would be that SurfaceFlinger currently rejects old hwcomposer, but CM should take care of that soon. They've also changed the bluetooth subsystem around, but we shouldn't have any problem with that. The most time consuming part would be to merge the current CM codebase with AOSP, since they are bound to be many conflicts.

The I9000 will get 4.2, but no ETA!

sooner or later i believe CM10 can get snappy UI without datadata.

Here's what I'm going to do: Swap /system and /data, and also decrease the size of /cache so you get ~400MB for /data itself. Every dalvik cache will be moved onto /system (as if /system is ever formatted, the dalvik cache can be easily regenerated and no data is lost), saving more space for /data.

This will however, require a full wipe on all devices and when that time comes, there'll be a warning on the download link.

I was skeptical about the new partition layout. I tested and I'm convinced that this is a very good solution.

Pawitp is trying for free to keep alive an almost dead device.

If someone doesn't like the solution that pawitp implemented then he can think something different, get the code implement something new and release it for all of us.
Alternatively, he may flash stock android 2.3 or complain to Samsung about no implementation of ICS and JB to SGS.

Edit: a big THANK YOU to pawitp. Bravo!
