I want to get a GSM device that runs ICS without any major bugs, my budget is whatever I can sell my DHD for.

Must be WVGA screen or better, new or used < £125 / $200 unlocked, any suggestions?

No point in flashing. There were no changes for DHD since the 18th November nightly release. 18th November was the last nightly with some changes according to the CM changelog.

the rom is really great but I faced a problem: when on screen off my D-HD drops EVERY network connection (data, wifi...) and only gets back on screen on. Seems like a kind of power saving feature. How to disable it? :/

This is CM7, you just posted the same thing in the CM10.1 thread. They are NOT the same thing. This thread/ROM is no longer being supported.

I realize you're relatively new here, but you've really got to do some more reading and searching. This is a completely different ROM.

Have you looked into your Wi-Fi settings > Advanced to ensure Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to Always? What baseband version/radio are you using? Did you properly wipe before flashing?

We need more information to be able to assist you, unfortunately, it seems you're even unsure of what version of CM you're using. Post some screenshots of your issues and from your About Phone section so we can look more deeply into your issue. Post the method you used to flash the ROM, etc. Help us help you.

it does not matter if it's set to always, it's something more hardcore-ish implemented than that, even I when i had CM7 all connections went down when the screen was off, and i had the option to not kill wifi on sleep set, but it still killed it.

Yep, sorry but my post in 10.1 was wrong: I know what version I have but I went to the other thread to and old fav link I got in Chrome. I didn't even read the title in that very moment so I got a post in the wrong section.

I'm going to need help for CM 7.

Anyway, I obviousely tried what you are saying but as I stated it drops data/mobile connections too and not just wifi. I'm going to try creating a profile with Android Tuner (could work...) or maybe flashing another kernel rather than the base one. I think I should do a nandroid backup too because I can't find CM 7 original kernel to flash it back.

I wiped it twice, still same issue. Don't remember radio/baseband right now: think it's something kernel-related as screen-off profiles should be there. Or there are config files should I check in system directories?

The rom is really good for daily use but screen-off killing connections is such a pain... :/

I wasn't saying that was the problem, but he posted the question with no additional information. He said ALL network functions stop working, implying that he's not able to even receive calls while the screen is off.

If you've had this issue, maybe share how you rectified it? Even flashing a newer version of a ROM as a solution... is still a solution. We need some additional details. My first guess would be radio issue, my second would be user-error, possibly as far back as the wiping/flashing process... especially considering he's one of a very few I've read having this issue (no offense, it happens sometimes.)

Unfortunately, that's all the assistance someone can offer without being provided logs and other important information.

It's very easy to find your baseband version, it's in About phone. And unfortunately "I wiped it twice" still doesn't explain how you wiped. Did you do a Factory reset/wipe data, then wipe cache & dalvik? Basically you need to format everything except your SD card. I'm not saying you didn't, it's just information you've not yet given. Which CM7 release are you using? Did you check the md5 of the ROM zip prior to flashing? Have you tried simply redownloading & reflashing the ROM?

These are just basic troubleshooting processes one should try. On a separate note, is there a specific reason you haven't upgraded from CM7? If it's your favorite, I get it, it's just no longer supported, really.

I simply didn't have my phone in my hands in that moment, anyway BB is: 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M

I did everything as always did on my old Desire too, wiped everything except SD. Dalvik and Cache too. Then I redid a Wipe Data and again a Dalvik and cache too. I always flash doing this and never had any trouble.

I'm using "latest" CM7 20130301-NIGHTLY. Checked MD5 and redownloaded the rom when flashing it again.

That's why I asked for help: I excluded errors and just thought of some bug/added power saving function.

Well, I'm on CM7 because it seemed really fast and stable: my girlfriend uses this phone and I'm always near her so she need something fast and reliable on a daily use and which keeps a discrete battery (well, Desire HD have no real "good" battery on his own). I tried a couple of roms, Sense and not, and GB roms seemed to be faster and more reliable with every function working good.

CM 10 is a JB rom, don't remember changelogs right now but I think some function is not really working (I remember JellyTime having some issue). Maybe Camera, Tethering... You have CM 10 as I see: any major bug or battery drain? Could upgrade if there are no missing features.

PS: CM 7 is not a perfect ROM, not saying this. But aside from screen-off losing connections, only other bug I find is a really poor wifi reception with a huge battery drain using WIFI. But it's not very used in WIFI so I didn't bother.

I decided to do some searching and it seems Wi-Fi issues are common across several devices with CM7, and many users had mobile data connectivity issues while Wi-Fi was disabled... even if they had Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep set to Always. People were using third-party apps to keep Wi-Fi on during sleep, just to maintain some connection. So, as Steam testified, it seems to be an issue with CM7.

However, you are running an older radio, the most recent (and best, in my experience) is 17.14.11. (12.69a.60.29U_26.17.14.11_M)

Regarding CM10.1, the camera works just as well as CM7, plus the interface is nicer. I've even experimented and added the camera app from Motorola's new Moto X device, which is pretty nice, and allows me to use both cameras. CM's new camera app, Focal, is really exciting, but it's for 4.3/10.2. MMS, tethering, etc. all work just fine.

There's no real feature that isn't working for 10.1. GPS is hit and miss, but it's been that way since I had stock Sense Froyo/GB, as it's mainly a hardware issue. If your GPS works well with CM7, it'll likely work just fine with CM10.1.

I really recommended taking it for a "test drive" - it's beautiful, smooth, and still improving as it's supported. Though I'd recommend flashing Mustaavalkosta's version instead of JellyTime, personally I feel JellyTime lost it's edge once 4.1.2 was released.

Just make a nandroid backup, preferably using 4ext recovery, if you don't already have it. Worst case scenario; you don't love it, you can just restore your backup of CM7 and your back to where you are now. One thing I can assure you of though, is the Wi-Fi/network issues you're having now, don't occur in CM10.1.
