I gave up fighting with thoses wakelocks. I couldn't manage to find a solution without compromising functionality of some apps I use.

So I end up activating location history, location reporting and wifi availability for location, high precision location mode, still have tons of wakelocks of course, but there is a reason for these now. The impact on battery life is not very important, but that is my opinion.

I will turn off all these things when search app will be eventually updated fixing the issue with wakelocks.

So if i uncheck the location option then what will be the impact on apps?

Like the description says, Location Reporting is for Google Now and Maps. What it does is it gives you information based on your location, as for Google Now cards.

Location History is just a history of where you have been. For example if you use the same routes going to and from work, it will notify you of weather or traffic updates between your work and home.

If you don't require or use Google products that often, you may choose to disable both of them. You can always manually choose device accuracy if you need to use Maps.

Suffering from this as well, all of a sudden i´d say, 10% during night in airplane mode, usually it´s about 2%
BBS shows NlpCollectorWakeLock and "AudioIn" (googlequicksearchbox) as main battery suckers. :(

Same issue here. I was hoping for a solution with 4.4.3.

Has anyone had any luck freezing apps with Tibackup?

Just not sure where I can start.

I found a workaround in a german forum, which requires root:
Download the app showing in the screenshot open it and untick the services from the second screenshot in Google play service. Google now, maps etc are all working, but my wakelocks are gone.

Let me know if that worked for you guys.

Audioin is the OK Google hot word detection and not an actual wake-up. It'll increase even with the screen on so I wouldn't worry about that one

Thanks for the hint. I will try it.

I have another workaround which runs fine at my S3:
- first you must install Xposed
- then install "Wakelock Terminator" from the playstore and activate the module in Xposed
- reboot the phone
- open Wakelock terminator, search "Google Play-Services" (in German: Google Play-Dienste) and enter the following filter settings:

So I found a way to decrease the nlp wakelocks by denying access via privacy guard. My question is would it be safe to deny it under Google service frameworks? Seen attached.

I already denied it under Google Play services.

Just be careful blocking them from either appops or other xpose framework. For me, entries refresh wakelock kicked in instead and it was worse than having these two wakelocks. I am not sure if this is still the case.

I tried this and although my wake locks were gone, my battery still drained like they were still present.

This is with location on battery saving and location reporting on (to test if the fix worked).

I'll let it run again tomorrow, and post screenshots if it still occurs

I got rid if these wake locks by using a taker profile that disables location services 2 minutes after turning the screen off and enabling them 10 seconds after the screen is turned on.

More info can be found on Reddit here: http://www.reddit.com/r/TaskerFiles...ble_location_services_when_display_off_using/

awesome suggestion!! I'm a bug tasker fan!! I just made a gps auto on/off profile the other day for when gmaps is opened. if only I was smart enough to have looked a little further in secure settings at the time LOL

To be honest, tasker is way above my head. Every time I've tried to learn how to use it, I give up in frustration. Thankfully the person that shared that profile also gave detailed instructions of how to use it. I bought Tasker over maybe a year ago, but just started using it when I found that about a month ago!

After using that profile, my nlpwakelocks drop down drastically and I still have location history on. It's dropped by battery drain down to 1-2%/hr with WiFi off.

join the tasker google group, there's so many walkthroughs and you can request a profile if you have an idea of what you want but not how to execute.

This is working beautifully for me. This alone is worth the $3 for tasker.
Careful with that, there is this bug: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=64597

that as a google employee said:

I suspect this is a byproduct of the issue in Google Play Services where network location stops working when settings are disabled and then reenabled. That issue has been fixed, but not yet released.
so it will crap out on you if you switch it on and off often.

Thanks for the heads-up. It shouldn't be a huge issue as location services isn't critical for me, I just like the location-based cards and such and I hate sacrificing core features for acceptable battery life. That's good to know, though.
