Dont put fake roms on this thread please! Because non of those roms would work on the HTC Desire 516.
People dont need virus roms or such things. If you gonna post something on any thread be helpfull sir

Delete the files you have downloaded sir, i just wanna help but this guy who post the roms is lying. Because there is no custom rom build yet for this phone anywhere or anyhow. It might be somekind of spyware or virus or something that he wants to put in your computer or phone itself by using you. Just be carefull!

I Have root access and have CWM based custom revovery installed in my D516 but is there any custom rom for this phone, if there is any rom then pls share.

I just used kingroot app and in 4 or 5 chance it gave me root access

Did i have to unlock the bootloader before installing the recovery? This is my first HTC phone! Thanks
Flash the recovery through Flashify app. But it requires root access . Download the Flashify app from Play Store and flash the Recovery.

I don't know whether it is a true or a fake rom but if you can try then try this. It seems to be a fake rom.
i lost my stock recovery
I was trying to flash cwm recovery in my HTC desire 516 , but I don't know what goes wrong and I lost my stock recovery, when I go to recovery mode it stuck at HTC screen logo.. Please help me I want to flash custom rom in my HTC desire516

There is no Custom ROM for this phone. If you can start and use your phone means it is not soft bricked then flash the cwm again through Flashify app. I flashed twrp and cwm with flashify app and found no issue with this.

I was flashing this ROM and Got a msg of Updating failed and soft bricked my phone now i have to flash stock rom
stuck at htc logo screen
i was changing font from iFont app, it restart during proccess , but at that point my phone slip from my hand and battrey of phone come out of my phone. after that when i start my phone it stuck at htc logo screen.. and i also lost my stock recovery,. I can only go into fastboot mode,,,plz help me what to do...

Flash the stock rom agaiın on your phone, if that does not help Download ADB Run + the boot.image of stock rom. Download the right drivers, after put your phone in fastboot. Connect your phone now with your computer. Open ADB Run and choose option number 5 after number 2. Then put the boot.image file in the folder that opens automatically. Than Close the folder open ADB run and press Enter. When is says finished, disconnect the phone from pc. Take out the battery wait for couple of seconds. Than put the battery back in to your phone and start it. It shoud go back to the normal state. :laugh:
Download jelly bean font zip and install it from CWM, I had the same problem with font and that fixed it. It's worth a shot.
You say you can get in to fastboot mode....
If you can get into fastboot mode thats means that ADB RUN should work.
Maybe you need to install the right drivers for ADB?
1 Install the right drivers for ADB
2. Run your phone in fastboot
3. Connect your phone to your computer
4 Open the program ADB Run and see if the program sees your device by pressing number 1 and after again number 1.
5. if you see your device listed then go back and press number 5, after number 2 and place the boot.image in the opend folder.
6. When is succeed your phone should restart normally, just take out the battery and restart again.

If it still not work you have to look for other flashing methods and software that could help you.

download
1. boot.img file
2. zdsrooter setup
3. adb run
first u have to install the drivers for our phone u can downloade pda net and obviously SDK manager after installing drivers... if u struck any where in installing driver or anything u can reply me here :
ok so after installing drivers u have to run ADB RUN after running ADB RUN you will get folder in C:drive >adb>img>boot
put boot.img(extract from root.zip) file in boot folder then reboot your phone in recovery there u get option reboot bootloader or you can do this through command prompt by entering command "adb reboot bootloader"
REMEBER YOU HAVE TO CONNECT YOUR USB WHEN DEVICE STRUCK AT HTC SREEN LOGO ....YES htc logo
after connecting usb
1 open ADB RUN
2 GO TO FASTBOOT BY entering '5'
3 THEN boot -ENTER '2' and ADB RUN WILL SHOW "press any key to continue"
4then pop up will open where you saved you boot.img file which is stored in this path C:drive >adb>img>boot
5 now you do not have to click on that file just press any key
6 then reboot your phone when the process of boot.img complete
AFTER THAT
7install zdsrooter ... popup come up with green and red question mark and u have to press green button
8.then press root button after that u willl find KING USER app on your phone again reboot phone
9 u can also replace king user with supersu u have ti install su binary press continue and normal if it says failed then reboot your phone you will surely able to install su binary

Here is how to root your HTC Desire 516 dual sim
I downloaded rootdashi_2 4 apk from Chinese website www ug7 net/htc/HTCDesire516yidongban htm < replace spaces with dots
After I saw the green check mark (I do not understand a word Chinese), I installed zdsrooter_setup_2 6 16 3 exe on my wifes windows computer (I'm on Linux Debian).
Connected my phone via USB cable, it did something and reboot, after I got full root.
Replaced Busybox and SuperSU and that's all.
Downloaded term-init.sh from www theandroidhow com/2014/06/how-to-enable-initd-support-on-android html, executed and got init.d
(re)formated my external SD Card with 1G ext4 partition (GParted), and with Link2SD got possibility to link my data apps.
Essentially, this is what I expected from my phone.

It did not output anything. Adb shell reboot bootloader did the trick though
For all the people looking for a simple way to root.
1.Enable ADB.
2.In cmd,
" adb shell reboot bootloader"
Wait for it to get stuck on the HTC screen.
"fastboot flash recovery path-to-your-recovery-file" (use cwm as TWRP doesn't work properly yet)
"fastboot reboot"
Now download latest flashable of SuperSu and put it in your SD card or internal storage.
"adb reboot recovery"
Use cwm to flash the SuperSu file and reboot. (Y)

Another option that you can try is the following Chinese Software called iRoot. (Previously called Vroot) Al you have to do is install the software, click Root and connect the USB cable. If I remember the order correctly.
This one worked for me:

According to some video's and forums you can later replace iRoot by SuperSu. Haven't tried this yet, cause I can work with this for now.
Hope this helps someone.
Now let's hope someday we can run CWM or TWRP recovery and that Cyanogenmod (or another good custom rom) is made available for our phone. It seems that they have somehow forgotten our phone.

Do you have a backup of the original boot.img if something goes wrong? Also if new OTA updates are released I guess v need to switch back to original files in order to install OTA updates.
