NO FLASHING ROMS, possibility to port Interop-unlock to Lumias

I know the way to download other OEM's app onto your own devices, whatever OEM you are.
I also know if you set your system time to year 2213, run the app will show the Windows Phone Store link

So, if:
1. Samsung diagnosis app can be run on Lumia
2. Samsung diagnosis app exist in Windows Phone Store

we can Interop-unlock Lumias.

DID IT!!!!!

I've interop-unlocked my ATIV S.

The process is a little hokey, and relies on having the Samsung disagnosis app; we'll either need to find a way to get that onto other phones, or find a similar vuln in them.

It's possible, though, and I've done it. Stock TELUS Mobility ROM, standard AppHub dev unlock (should work with the free unlock).

I can install apps with both ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES, and with non-public capabilities (internal or private), and they run.

This is a beautiful, beautiful day. It's 5AM and pouring rain outside and I need to be at work in four hours, but I could hardly be happier!

Real thread forthcoming. For the moment, I need to dance around a little and see what else I can do with it.

I don't think the Samsung Diagnosis application is in the store, as is. But maybe it is included in Samsung's "Extra Settings". Problem is that it isn't an application that you can just run, it's part of the normal settings. I will try to investigate this further for you.

Okay, so I guess I was wrong about the diagnosis application. It is indeed available in the Microsoft Store. How do I get the link from my phone though? Using Fiddler2 through a proxy I guess?

The OP explained how to get the link. Setting the system year to 2213 (200 years in advance) will cause the link to appear when you run the application instead of launching the actual application.

That is true, but this time it didn't give me a link. It told me I need to buy it again or uninstall it. When I press buy I get redirected to the store, where you find the application information that correspond to the Diagnosis application.

So IDO actually think it is in the store.

if you're seeing this, you should be able to click "send" (next to install) and you have the link.

I've made a screenshot, but I can't upload it right now through my mobile tethering, not sure why but I can't connect to my FTP. I will upload it as soon as I get home, it says "This application is not availible for your mobile phone" inside the store. No buttons to get the link :(

@cpuguy has the link, from another thread..
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/diagnosis/07a20ad9-a4f9-4de3-855f-dcda8c8cab39

but even samsung phones are not able to install it so I doubt it'll work.. MAYBE it's possible to edit some values in the get request, not just the oemId? I have no real clue of it, but maybe some experienced guy can help..

Not exactly. We know that the phone can recognize the xap and that the data actually resides on locally on the phone. If there is a way to directly launch it from the SD card without installing (or invoke an installer) we could go around the store. I'm counting on the native toast launcher, but I don't know how the phone sees the SD card directory or where it's mounted.

I am going to tinker around later. I have to setup my tools.
