It looks like Sony has used a 1080x1776 display resolution in the Z rather than the original 1920x1080!
Some apps I used, showed the system specs as mentioned above, but I discarded it hoping that there was some error in their calculations. But even Vellamo benchmark shows the same as 1776. Is it true Sony that the device is not totally 1080p or what?
Or maybe, the rest of pixels was devoted to the soft buttons and the apps doesn't count it?
Very confusing on this part! Guys if you do know something about this, then please do share!

Sigh, it's because of the soft buttons.

Yes, it's probably because of the soft buttons. Try using a mod to remove the soft buttons panel and see if the same app reports the screen as 1080P

Edit: Tested mine (Custom Rom with a mod for smaller soft buttons panel) and my resolution is reported as 1080 x 1812. So it is definitely the soft buttons panel.

Even it is, but very ridiculous considering they take up that much pixels for a button!

You can resize them.

My display is '1812x1080' using smaller navbars. Also take into account this isn't a 720p display so the navbar uses more pixels (cos there is more) despite being the exact same ratio/size.

Oh, I now get that both status bar and soft keys take up considerable pixels in screen! Thought that excluding these, we will be getting a FHD screen. That's not the case right now I hope!

This is known, since Softbuttons are available in Android (4.x).
You can compare it to the HTC One X for example, surfing websites. The HTC One shows more, because it doesn't use Softbuttons.
Looking at pictures, watching videos or playing games will give you the fhd screen, because the softbuttons will be hided.
Yuo dont have additional pixels or another screen to show the softbuttons. they use the screen that is given.
It has a Full HD Screen and you can use it, when it matters.

Android 4.2.2??? What's that??
have you spoofed your xperia z as a Note 2? or how do you get 1080x1920 on a "GT-N7100"?
Yes, I edited the build.properties to mimic GN2 in order to install FB home but I uninstalled it after that as I don't like it. :p
I'm on PAC ROM and in tabled mode, so yeah 4.2.2 and 1080x1920 is correct. :cowboy:
Cheers.
