failed to root with zergRush root exploit..
but i managed to root with superatmos v2.1 via odin tool...
Is it necessary to root with zergRush?
Im thinking to try change/replace modem right now..

baseband unknown blank imei

This only works in few cases and you should not use gs_repair because it creates the efs filesystem with the incorrect parameters.

Hi I realise this post is from 2012 but what do you mean dont use S2 Repair as it creates efs file system ???

Please read this post as i think i might of corrupted my efs folder ???

HEY GUYS , i've created an account here just to address this problem :
( only for SAMSUNG GALAXY SII )
Solution 100% solved and WOrking ( BY ME )

1st step , download any compatible android firmware available in your hands. ( if your phone isin't stuck in a boot loop , skip this step, or if u can use everything but GSM cellular network, or any other connection provided by your sim card provider )
2nd : root your mobile using this toolkit here's the link

www.ngopdul.com/en/androids/root-your-an...rooting-toolkit.html

3rd: step : search in the market for GSII_repair app ( needs root aka superuser access )
4rth step : repair your efs files using this app . ( it's obvious when u look at it )
5th step : search in the market for galaxy s unlock ( follow steps , easy ones )
6th step : ENJOY having your phone back from the dead

PS : this is addressed to all of the guys with the unsolved baseband issues ( unknown baseband)
no imei , imei sv wifi adddress , bluetooth address in a (unavailable) state , will 100 work , hope u enjoy , i blogged for the 1st time in my life to try to help out ppl :_) , try it and reply to me if it did work ( of course it's gonna work"

The 1st 2 steps got my phone working again..

Thanks goes to droid recruit for this!

no network

Hi,

I'm facing this major problem with my GALAXY S2 GT-i9100.
When I switch off my mobile and then switch on ,my phone shows no sim card inserted.

If I put the same SIM in another phone, it works. So no problem with the SIM or Network.

I have tried the following:

complete WIPE. Factory Reset, Clear cache, Clear Dalvik cache, Format /system
i done every thing but my problem not solved

Even after doing everything, the problem is same.

Kindly help.:(

Hi, i have a i9100 with no IMEI, the phone was rooted with stock 4.1.2 and sudenly got no signal. Later found that it had no IMEI and baseband was unknown.

I've tried reflashing the baseband, installed the GSII_repair but no luck.

I allso have another S2. Can i copy the EFS folder from the one that's working to the no imei one?

What other options do i have?

Thanks in advance!!

Baseband Unknown and no IMEI on Galaxy S2

Hi, My Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 has suddenly lost it's signal, while I was stopping some services, which I thought were slowing down my phone. Further investigating, I found that the baseband version is "UNKNOWN" and *#06# was giving no IMEI.

I found this forum addressing similar issue. I understood that /efs/nv_data.bin file was corrupted on my phone.
GSII_Repair and "Galaxy S Unlock" apps, could not resolve my issue.
It gave me an error while restoring the EFS partition. This is probably because my file system was in read-only mode.
Then, I used the "HC-kTool" to restore. Finally, after doing some specific sequence of operations using HC-kTool,
I was able to successfully repair the no signal issue on my phone.

Here are the steps I followed to repair my phone:
I have done many unnecessary things.
But, I think the root cause is that the nv_data.bin file was corrupted.
It needed the following 2 steps to be done to fix this issue:
1. Root the phone.
2. Restore the file /efs/nv_data.bin.

The exact set of actions I have done to do each of the above steps is as follows:
1. Root the phone.
  • a. Download the rooted image for Galaxy S2. (CF-Root-SGS2_XW_NEE_LPG-v5.5-CWM5.zip – is suitable for my OS & Phone HW version)
  • b. Copy it to /sdcard on the phone
  • c. Press volume-up, home, and power buttons together for 10-15 seconds and enter the debug mode on the phone.
  • d. Navigate the menu using the volume up-down buttons and select “Install zip from sdcard” option using home button.
  • e. Reboot, by selecting the reboot option from the same menu.
  • f. Cross check that the phone is rooted by using the “Root Checker” app downloaded from Play store.

2. Restore the file /efs/nv_data.bin.
  • a. Download BusyBox from Play store. This is a unix command toolbox used by many other Root apps.
  • b. Download HC-kTool App from Play store.
  • c. Using HC-kTool, Back-up the /efs folder as efs.tar.gz in /sdcard.
  • d. Copy the efs.tar.gz to PC thru USB.
  • e. Delete the /efs folder.
  • f. Using HC-KTool, execute the “Restore /efs from TAR” option.
  • g. Using HC-kTool, Reboot.
  • h. I’ve also used GSII_Repair App in the beginning. But, it may not be necessary.

BTW, I've never backed up my efs folder earlier, before the issue occurred.
Infact, I was not aware of efs folder before I searched the internet for resolving this issue.

See here for all your backing up and restoring needs. Everything EFS, and can also fix baseband and IMEI issues.
