At this point, let me ask you a few things.

1. Are you rooted now?
2. Is your phone 2213
3. What firmware are you on? C22

Sorry for the late response. I ended up following what Prant suggested:

You can update the phone just fine with unlocked BL. Those devs have no clue what they're talking about. Just take care to disable all modules, fully unroot first via Magisk, reboot! Then you can take the OTA update like normal, you will be unrooted of course. So just reroot via booting patched boot again on desired firmware.

This did the trick for me and I updated just fine.

The problem is NFC Payments with Google Pay aren't working. I'll try to figure it out

Yea you can do that but you'd need a computer to do so. The other way you don't, it uses the fact that you're rooted to re-root the image from the new firmware on the fly, plus it never fails, saves a lot of time and the use of a computer and negates the possibility of a failed boot or flash from the patched boot image, not to mention the fact that you need to extract the boot image, then patch it, then boot it then direct install..

I'm having trouble with this. It worked for me prior but my daughter was using my phone and accepted an OTA update, losing me my root access.
I'm able to extract the boot.img after downloading the firmware from Oxygen Updater, I have had Magisk patch it, and then when I fastboot boot magisk_patched... it bootloops once and then takes me right back into my non-rooted OS.

There's only one reason I can see why this could be happening, even though I'm downloading "Full" from Oxygen Updater, FastbootEnhance is still telling me it's an incremental package (which I'm forcing through with the "Allow Incremental" checkbox). But I can't see to find a way to get the full update package, even though my Oxygen Updater settings are set to "Full".

Edit: My phone is an NE2213, and my daughter originally accepted an update for OxygenOS 13, but I have since updated to 13.1 as part of my troubleshooting steps.

That's normal for FE to tell you that, just carry on..

If the firmware is over 4GB then yes it is a full package.

I've done this for pretty much every firmware available and it's never once failed to boot and subsequently direct install from magisk.

I posted the one that works the other day in another thread ..it's a modded module ..the stock safety net fix doesn't work for most people.

I am facing an issue : after booting on the patched img Magisk only show the option to patch a file. Not showing direct install as it usually does. I tried switching to beta, and clear data of the app but still not the direct install option
Do you have an idea?

So the files not booting then..if it did you'd be rooted and would be able to direct install..

That option only appears if you're rooted.

I'll repatch the image and upload, give it a try and I'll update the OP accordingly.

Yes, at page 22 of this thread I have done some previous versions Magisk patched img, and now doing the exact same thing doesn't work. I just tried downloading the entire update file, extracting the boot img and patching myself and still nothing. I will try with old magisk

Edit : same thing with Magisk 25.2

Maybe I should re install the 520 (EX01)?
Or maybe forcing the patched boot.img by flashing it instead of booting on it?

You could try but then you're in it . Keep a copy of the actual boot image so you know you can get back.

I found the issue and the solution!
When I hide Magisk I used to rename the package as '' Zmanager '', and it seems like when I booted after the update, Magisk asked to reinstall the default Magisk package, but it didn't completely un-installed last hideed manager. I couldn't see it in the launcher anymore but the app was still in the system (look at the screenshot) . Found this with Link2SD app
I found this after seeing that rooted apps as lsposed, adaway, Link2SD were still getting root access (without notifications saying '' root access granted '' tho)
So the patched boot.img were correctly flashed on the phone but this old hidded Magisk package was still doing his things without any possibility to see the app or to launch it

Haha nice. Yea I assumed you had a functional copy of magisk, hiding can cause issues.. plus you shouldn't need to do that with the modded version of safety net fix... Banking, gpay and other apps seem to be fine
