No Notification Sounds

I tried that app. Not surprisingly, it tells me that it doesn't work with android 12.

I bought my phone "used like new" from Amazon. It's unlocked and has the T-Mobile logo when I turn it on. It came with android 10 when I got it. I checked for updates and it updated to 11 right away. I never even got to see what 10 was like. I regretted that immediately. I got this phone with the intention of signing up with Mint because my old one wouldn't work with Cricket any longer once they required phones that supported VoLTE. It had 11 on it before I got Mint. It ran fine with 11. After 12 I noticed things that were odd. They've had a couple security patches since the update, the last was Sept 1st, plus I had it repaired in the beginning of August. It was fairly recently that I started to realize that I kept missing calls. I figured that it was because my phone is always in a bag and I just wasn't hearing it. But then I noticed that it made no notification sounds. I wear Bluetooth headphones all day at work and all the sounds come through those. I wasn't missing anything at work, and I didn't think much about it at home. I also have a tablet and any notification sounds came through that. As I said... my phone is used 98% of the time as an audio player. If I've missed anything, let me know.

It sure would be good if that other sim card worked in your phone, and I really appreciate you trying.

Security updates don't fix the problem that you are encountering. They are just there to close any loopholes/vulnerabilities in the system files.

Now there is a good news for you.

I tried the Mint Mobile as well as Boost mobile sim cards in my phone and they both work totally fine. As mentioned earlier, I am on Android 10 in the exact same phone that you have. Only difference is I am a T-Mobile subscriber and my phone has never been repaired for any thing.

So I suggest you flash the Android 10 T-Mobile firmware on your phone using LGUP. You will also need USB drivers. The installation procedure is on the page where you will get the firmware from.

The reason I am recommending Android 10 is because that's how you bought your phone initially from Amazon. So you flash it with Android 10 (preferably the last version of 10 available). Once completed see if your phone is back to working flawlessly.

After you are on Android 10, let it update to Android 11 (if you prefer) as it did before OTA (over the air). If after update, everything is working normally then don't let it update to Android 12.

That's great news. I wan't sure if I would be able to do that, so I actually ordered another phone just in case. The one I ordered says it comes with 10 installed, and I will not be "upgrading". It's already been shipped and it'll be here by the first week of December. I'm going to try flashing the one I've got when it gets here, but I needed one to fall back on in case something goes wrong. I tried watching one of those videos on how to do this, but there were pop-ups for other videos that you can't close at the end so I couldn't watch how it turned out. No surprise there. google owns youtube and google makes everything worse. Anyway, this way I'll know for sure if it's software or hardware. Either way, I won't have 12 anymore. I've been pretty unhappy with it. If I still have a problem after rolling back to 10, maybe I'll have that guy put the original charging port back in. More money wasted, but how else will I know?

Question... what is LG Flash Tool? By the sounds of their names, one "upgrades" while the other one "flashes" so you can downgrade. Is this something that can brick my phone, or if there's a problem, you can just re-flash?

STEPS:

1. Download and install LGUP. Which is the LG software for flashing the firmware.
2. Download and install the USB driver.
3. Download the V60 Android 10 firmware.
4. Turn your phone off.
5. Now connect the USB cable to your computer but don't connect to your phone yet.
6. While holding the volume up key connect your phone to the USB cable.
7. This will put your V60 in download mode.
8. Now launch LGUP and choose the firmware your downloaded to flash. Ideally you should select "partition" flash mode but "refurbish" will work just fine in your case.
9. Start the flashing procedure.
10. Phone will automatically reboot when done.

There is really nothing to mesh it up. Once you have flashed it, you will see how straight forward the process is.

I'm not so sure. Since the "update" my battery drops at an increased rate, despite being plugged into a charger nonstop. In 45 minutes, while plugged in, it's gone from 98% to 92%.

So what you are saying is that even when the phone is charging, there is 6% drop in charge? If so, there is something definitely wrong with your phone. Since I have not so far heard from others (relating to security update including myself), it is logical to assume that. The only way to know is reverting to Android 10 (the most robust firmware on V60) and see if you encounter the same problem.

Correct. Since being plugged into a non high speed charger since 6:00 this morning, it's gone from 98% to 85%. Prior to the security "update" two days ago, this didn't happen. I've tried 2 different cables and 2 different chargers.

Hopefully my replacement phone shows up this weekend. I don't want to flash this one until I have a backup. When my other one gets here, can I just put the sim card in, or do I have to do anything else to get it switched over?

Nope. Just put your SIM card from V60 (the one you have now) to the new one. And that’s all. An activated SIM card carries your phone number (and account) regardless of the phone (as long as the device is compatible to the network).

My replacement phone is supposed to be here today. Before I allow it to connect to the internet, where is the setting that will prevent it from ever even looking to see if there's an update. The last thing I'd want is a perpetual notification icon telling me that there's an update, or even worse, that it's downloaded the update and when would I like to install it.

You will have to root your phone to deactivate updates. Alternatively, you can install this and remove bloatwares as well as prevent updates without rooting.

Really? There's no simple on/off switch to stop google from pushing its' unwanted crapware onto my phone? I've said it before, and I'll say it again... google makes the world worse.

I've tried ADB AppControl. Both the portable and install version. I keep getting an error about needing to install the drivers from here. I tried to install the "Driver Installer", but it says [error] device not found and won't install. I installed the "Another Driver", but I still get the error about needing drivers. I used the "My installer with the driver" and I still get the error. I'm running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit. I honestly don't know what to do at this point. Is any help possible?

You should try the drivers provided by LG. Links are above. However, I am not sure about the functionality of ADBControl under Windows 7 (as their website also advises). Just wondering why are you still operating on Windows 7 because most of the current softwares (to manipulate Android) require newer version of Windows?

I installed the LG Driver LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.8.0, and I still get an error about drivers

I'm still running 7 because that's what's on my computer. There's not much I can do about that. I built my PC about 7 years ago. The real question here is how does google get away with forcing OS updates onto people when they might not want them, and not provide an option to refuse them. The last I knew, I own my phone, not google.

The website for ADB AppControl states this..."System Requirements: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11 and .NET Framework 4.6 or higher." and I could find nowhere that it says that 7 might be a problem. I did find this however... "Support for older Android versions is possible but not guaranteed."

I've emailed ADB AppControl for support. Hopefully they get back to me soon.
