I got my pixel XL today and I unlocked the bootloader and tried to flash a custom rom from twrp but after the flash in the reboot menu it says no OS installed? Tried 2 different roms both with the same result. I know I am doing all the steps correctly but I have no idea what is going wrong. When rebooted it just sits at google logo. and yes I tried to google to find the solution but I didn't find anything.

You have to pay attention to the a/b partition thing with pixel phones. With Oreo i always had to flash rom to both slots (a and b). You can change slots in twrp in reboot menu. With this a/b thing on pixel phones flashing custom rom and kernel is quite different... Always pay attention to the steps provided from the dev in the thread you found the custom rom.

Try to just change the slot and check if boots.

From what I understand, the ROM will flash to opposite slot that you're currently booted into. So if you boot into twrp on slot a, if will flash the ROM to slot b and vice versa. If I were you, I'd flash the ROM to both slots.

Thank you for all the help, right now I'm just on rooted 8.0 with twrp as recovery. I'll prolly mess with some stuff over the weekend.
