Sim Card Issues
This may be related to an issue that I had.
It seems that all Jelly Bean ROMs appear to have a lot of trouble detecting the SIM and connecting to a mobile network with my DHD. Sometimes rebooting the phone or enabling / disabling airplane mode will get it working - but for the most part it wouldn't. I would get a "No SIM Card" error, and it was impossible to get mobile data or void to work.
The only thing that I have had any success with is using 'GetRIL' and making sure my baseband and RIL match. Once I did this, at least the CodefireX JB ROMs started working (I have not yet tried with randomblanes' JellyTime ROM).
Note, I had absolutely no issue with any (MIUI or Cyanogen) Gingerbread based ROMS; just JB.
