No visual voicemail on aosp based roms

I can't seem to get any visual voicemail apps to work with aosp roms. (Att visual voicemail, Google voice, or vvm). I know it's an issue but wanted to see how people were resolving the issues.

Currently on deviant 4.2.2 but had the same issue with other aosp.

Help?
