I'm sorry if my understanding isnt right. Ahhh I just reread my posts and now realised why u asking mr.mrcn = venom ... my bad in my haste I must have read something venom wrote/replied about uploading fonts under dark themes by mr.mrcn and had copied the wrong link and mixed the 2 ... the UI in these pages bit busy. My bad.

So I have been posting in these xda pages trying to get help to confirm about the ability to change font styles using the developed "Dark" HWThemes files on a Mate 9 (EMUI 5.0) . I really want some advise & confirmation that using these themes or anyone else's in these forums can provide the function to change font styles (which is a std Android OS function) but which the stock EMUI 5.1 factory settings have failed to provide the user an option to change font styles, only font size is provided. Menu to change font style is missing and for the life of me I cannot understand this and so was looking for alternate solutions.
Can either please help shed some light on Dark Themes and Changing Font Style on Mate 9 please thanks

There is no option to change font in EMUI 5.1 (in theme manager), like it was previous version. It's weird.
Tks for yr treasured reply. My bad again my typo Mate 9 is on EMUI 5.0 not 5.1 ... is it all still the same? Oh I was so hoping to hear good news. I thought the themes here were some customisations that enabled font style updates that huawei stock EMUI switched off for the lay user. This affects my decision over EMUI 5.0 PHONES. Read this was solved for 4.0. Sigh
I have changed my Phone language to englisch and than i can use other font styles...
Tk u daser4berlin. Noted u are using Mate 8. And likely u hv EMUI 4 on it? Or do u have EMUI 5?

However my question is for Mate 9 on EMUI 5 and Android 7 (Nougat).
I guess I was hoping if someone with a Mate 8 and EMUI 5 could change fonts then I wanted to know more about it.
Am not sure why I didnt ask this question in Mate 9 section but I think its because its still a new phone, more posts in these Mate 8 pages.
I have a mate 8 and emui 5.0 also on Nougat.. My Rom ist B584
I got the Mate 9 installed the dark themes in these pages and even updated to B172 firmware. No joy. There is no such menu Font Style under Display menu ! How did u get that menu to show ? I have set language to English US also no effect.
I dont know maybe it comes Later to mate 9 Roms..
On my original language german it doesnt work too..
only when i switch to englisch.. Look on my Screenshots...

Hello. I'm on EMUI 5 and B560. Just followed the steps in the OP and it works fine.

Thank you Angus. You're the first to post photo showing where the font is supposed to be changed. Thank u. Now I understand. The change is occuring inside Huawei Themes app not inside Huawei System Settings > Display menu. Cos on Mate 9 can't see menu Font Style or get it to show so I was confused. Happy to share my screenshots now showing diff dark (thank god) background and customised font style in my Mate 9. Now if only I could modify the Navigation Key Icons .... Are u able to do that via emui themes ?

Edit: Just found out that Source Sans Pro from Google Web Fonts aren't properly rendered. This one is from iFont. Credits to iFont for making this possible.

how can I make my own fonts?
EDIT: nevermind, already found out how to do it, just extracted the zip and replaced the ttf file and then made a new zip, working on EMUI 5.0 too, tested on my Mate 8.
