When i downloaded the xap of Nokia Maps from the first post on this thread I cant load it. Im using the app deployment tool and when I go to deploy it, it says, "Error - Installation of the application failed. XAP package signature is not valid or the WP manifest file is invalid. Re-sign with valid signature and fix the manifest file."

Im sure im doing something simple wrong

Well actually there is an update to an application called Nokia Maps so I guess there already is more functionality. As they have showed of other apps aswell I am sure they are in the market already either, its just not really easy to find them

Deploy with Phone7Deployer and tick "Replace the signature of the assemblies" and "Remove the DRM description file":

Nokia and Microsoft confirmed that Nokia Maps will be available on all Phone 7 Devices. Tough, Maps does only include online Navigation but not offline Navigation - that will be covered by Nokia Drive which is Nokia exclusive!

I'm pretty sure someone will be able to extract the apps from the phones like they did with the other OEM apps. Just a matter of time imo.

Nov04, 2011, Dr. Michael Spehr:

Nokia just confirmed that the navigation built into Lumia for Windows Phone 7.5 does not entirely work "offline" as was stated until now. "Nokia navigation (Drive) requires an internet connection for Search and Routing."

What this means: Without a signal you cannot enter a destination (that's how I found out) and when abroad you must be really careful, keyword roaming costs for data. You can however download maps in advance, which doesn't add to your data.

agreed... must get immediately! :p This cant be classified as warez right because its not being SOLD just being bundled in with a specific phone like Navigon first was over in Germany or where ever. One navigon released the ap to the marketplace and had a fee THEN the hacked version was warez.

this has to be free and clear to post.. God I hope!

What makes you think that taking Nokia's exclusive software and putting it on your phone is in any way legal?

you could say the same thing about navigon...
Your "logic" blows chunks. Nokia Drive was developed by Nokia for Nokia devices, and it's far from "free"; you get it by purchasing a Nokia phone. Sideloading it to any other device is warez, plain and simple, and we have a very clear and strict policy on these forums regarding piracy.
