Hey,

since this is my first Android Handset i'd like to know if it is yet possible to make a full backup of the stock rom? I know that Nandroid is used for that, but i think this requires the Clockworkmod (which is not yet available for us afaik)?

Can someone hook me up with a noob friendly tutorial on how to do this on the O3D?

Thanks in advance!

Well, my question has since been answered in some other threads.

What i did:

  • Root my device
    • install latest USB Drivers for O3D (e.g. via LG Mobile Support tool)
    • put Phone in USB-Debug mode (settings > applications > development)
    • get the SuperOneClick Tool (Google SDK was not necessary for me on Win7)
    • connect phone via USB > run SuperOneClick > click Root
    • when SuperOneClick is done > Reboot
  • Backup Stock Rom
    • get RomManager via Market
    • Install Clockwork Recovery via RomManager
    • run BackupCurrentRom
    • phone reboots and you`re done

After rooting the phone i got myself:

  • BusyBox Toolset (required for TitaniumBackup)
  • AdFree (for removing Ads from FreeApps)
  • RootUninstaller (for removing system apps)
  • TitaniumBackup (Backup all your apps)
(all available from the market)

If you start moving and deleting system files like a idiot you will brick it :)
Root it then install rom manager then backup your rom you will be safe

It's not like you have to root your phone. You could keep it locked stock if it works for you. But there are certain benefits from rooting the phone that make it worth a try. Just make sure you have a working backup before experimenting.

So if you make a back-up of the rom and let's say were an idiot and bricked the phone, can it be restored from the back-up? Is it the 3 button sequence to put the device into recovery mode, or is it once it's bricked it's bricked?

I used clockworkMod and made a backup.

But after i updated the phones kernel i can't boot out of recovery mode.

I've tried everything (restore backup, restore factory settings)

It keeps booting in recovery?????..... Help!!

No, luck i had the phone three days....

Maybe somebody knows what to do....
