On Sunday my wife shows me a coupon that came in my target red card statement. It said "50% off Nook HD or Nook HD+ accessory". I told here that I thought it was for an accessory. We went to the local Target to check it out. The employee rings up a 32 GB Nook HD+ for $299.99, scans the coupon, and it doesn't work. He tries the same thing with the Nook HD, same result. He calls a manager on the radio, explains that the coupon looks legit, she authorizes the sale, and I walk out of Target with a Nook HD+ 32GB for $154 and change, getting a 5% discount with my Target red card on top of the 50% off.

Looks like the wording was changed. The coupon I found says "50% off Nook accessory item for HD or HD+."

Would've been a killer deal of course but I don't think the wording can trick a Target manager anymore.

I say no, since the manager authorized the sale then the manager would be on the hook not the employee. I mean if the manager didn't catch it then how could it be the employee fault.

Well I sure hope that nobody got fired. If anything the marketing department, who did such a poor job with the coupon wording should get fired.
