Hi, my Nook HD+ (16 GB) collapsed a year ago getting in a reboot to CyanogenMod loop... It had the latest stable CM11 installed and EMMC CMW-based recovery v6.0.4.6.

When turning it on it did this

1) Showed NOOK bootscreen
2) Showed the Cyanoboot screen.
3) Showed the animated CyanogenMod logo and after a moment went back to 1)

I tried reflashing CM11 again but it kind of failed somewhere in the progress of the operation... I can't remember the details right now but the thing is the device was in this situation. I tried everything from wiping everything you could wipe and I tried also upgrading CM11 to a nightly version... with the very same results.

Today I decided to give it a try and found a very nice post by leapinlar (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062613) so I decided to try to take it back to stock firmware. But I can't do it. This is what happens.

I prepared bootable SD card with CMW 6.0.2.8 for HD+ (Stock) and this boots OK.

Flashed NoodHDPlus-emmc-stock-recovery-rev0-(05.16.13).zip, finishes OK without any errors.
Flashed NookHDplus-factory-2.1.0-plain-stock.zip - It shows some progress until some error regarding touching some emoji.so file shows up and aborts.

Detail on this last thing:
Installing update...
Random offset: 0x3e4
Failed to retouch '/system/lib/libemoji.so'.
E:Error in /sdcard/NookHDplus-factory-2.1.0-plain-stock.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

After this I reboot and CyanogenBoot still shows up... And that's it.... no more progress... I have to turn it off.

The weird thing is that booting to emmc recovery (power + n key) brings up CMW 6.0.4.6... I tried flashing CMW 6.0.3.6 for emmc booting from the SD card and the process finishes without errors but then, when booting to recovery with (power + n key) CMW 6.0.4.6 shows up again...

So this is how I'm stuck on doing something to recover my Nook HD+. I would appreciate some help. Thank you.

The only partition that would ever need to be wiped is /data, wiping other partitions could brick your HD+.

If you can still boot into CWM 6.0.4.6 and run it on EMMC, I'd suggest you try using it to wipe /data and then reflash CM11 and GApps.

It is possible that your EMMC is hosed, in which case you can try running CM11 off entirely SD card using a CM11 specially compiled for this purpose at https://iamafanof.wordpress.com/201...-4-4-4-for-bricked-no-emmc-nook-hd-04nov2014/.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I guess this is the case emmc gone bad...

I have already reached there reading your advice from another thread but after preparing a 32GB SD card and putting the .ZIP file in it I boot into TWRP but I am unable to mount the BOOT partition as indicated in the instructions.

How big was the Boot partition on your SD card? Some devices have problems accessing a large partition with size near the FAT32's 32GB limit.

Well, this is how it is currently partitioned... I don't see any problem regarding what you are saying...

I'm not sure if the ext4 partition is part of the .IMG I wrote to the SD or if it was created when I first booted from the SD card... The card is booting 100% of the time... the problem is I find no way to mount the BOOT partition in TWRP and then I am stuck at this point. I would appreciate any help to circumvent this situation. Thanks in advance.

Mauricio.

The only "shot-in-the-dark" I can think of is the possibility that "Boot" is already mounted (and thus is not available as an option in "Mount" menu), in which case you should be able to just skip to the next step (i.e., "Click “Home” button > Install > (Up a Level) > boot > Select *_HD_SDC_NOEMMC.zip > Swipe to install > Reboot System").

Not the case... boot is not mounted so I cannot proceed to install the .zip

This seems to load some kind of ramdisk... I find no way to see anything in the actual sdcard, it's weird.

I wonder if it would be possible to find an already working sdcard image that does not require this step... I googled a lot but found nothing...
