nook hd+ upgraded to a7

has anybody experienced a failure to shut down completely after upgrading to android 7 ?
for some reason my nook (when you long press start) no longer comes up with "shut down" it just acts like if has ,but its just turned screen off ,NOT SHUT DOWN, its a good job I caught it before bat got completely dead, any way to fix this and get the nook to turn off completely?

The issue of the "power-off" menu option resulting in a mere cold reboot has been widely and long reported, to turn the nook off you'd have to resort to holding down the power button for >30sec.
