I recently purchased an 8TB WD Portable HD from Best Buy (Cyber Monday special, 33% discount), formatted as exFAT. My Note 10 Plus can access the 8TB HD, read the files, open files, transfer files to and from my computer/HD.

And? exFAT is native for android. You could buy samsung T5 usb-c and transfer files directly to phone and vice versa (with greater speed) ;)

Connecting my Note 10 Plus to my 8TB HD and transferring files is actually pretty fast !!! I can also have both my 8TB HD and my Note 10 Plus connected to my computer at the same time, and easily and quickly transfer files between all devices with no problem.

1) I can connect my WD 8TB HD directly to my Dell laptop, and access from my Note 10 Plus (which is also connected directly to the laptop or to a Hub) ..... 2) I can connect my 8TB HD to a USB Hub, which is connected to the laptop, and also access from my phone .... 3) I can connect the 8TB HD to my Anker USB Hub, which is connected to the DeX Station (the original round dock) .... and 4) I can connect the 8TB HD directly to my Note 10 Plus. All four of these methods allow me to access the 8TB HD from my phone. Amazing technology ... !!!

I remember using an app off the Play Store to let my S4 read my 2TB NTFS drive, those were some fun times.
Microsoft exFAT/NTFS for USB by Paragon Software

only two explorers will natively support it.
