Followed the steps. .. got this.

Think I'm stuck here now with no root, correct?
With the exception of the Build (I'm using BajaRom) this is identical to mine.

HAve you checked to see if you have root> Root Checker, open an app that req root see if it asks for supers permission.

From this pic, it's impossible to tell if you lost root. If you followed the steps, you SHOULD still have root.

Do you get a Safestrap screen when rebooting? (Recovery) on the left bottom and (Continue) on right bottom?

You could just start from scratch and flash MJE in Odin, root, then follow the OP again. I've done it twice with no issues at all, following each step, (except for MY OWN error the first time when I forgot to flash NC2)

It really IS worth the 30 min to start over from scratch.

I'm avail all night if you choose to give it a shot :)

You should have no issues going back to 4.3 as long as you STAY AWAY from the VZW KK OTA...

I'll check back every few minutes in case you have a question.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Follow each step, if you're not 100% sure, just ask :D

Current Status: Rooted, stock MJE.
What I want: stock KitKat, rooted, no wipe. (I dont care about NC2's special stuff.)

Everything i see so far that involves keeping root wipes the device.

Is there a way I can OTA while keeping root? In the past i've used Voodoo OTA rootkeeper, but that no longer works apparently.

Not sure I get what you're wanting.

NC2 leak IS stock KK but it has an exploit that allows reverting back to 4.3... If that isn't anything you're interested in, then you still have the STOCK KK image, forget about 4.3...

You basically have two choices;

1) take the official VZW ota and whatever security road blocks they've put in there.

2) take the process to flash the NC2 leaked STOCK KK image, leave it alone, and enjoy the OPTION to do more in the future. If you hate KK for whatever reason, you have the OPTION to go back to 4.3 with the NC2 leak. Once on the VZW OTA, you will walk down whatever path THEY choose for your Note 3.

Technically you have 3:

3) stay rooted on 4.3 and wait for the 4.3 dev herd to dwindle wawy...

Unfortunately, some 4.3 based apps, backups, data files, etc. WILL cause issues with KK 4.4 firmware/modems/functionality.

In the end, it is your choice my friend. I prefer option whenever it is offered.

I updated to the leaked 4.4.2 rooted build without wiping internal storage.
Just have to wipe the stock slot in safestrap. You do a factory reset in the safestrap but don't touch internal or ext storage.
After all was done my storage was exactly the same.
Some guys did wipe storage for an extra clean start.

Play??

Not sure if anyone asked/answered this or not, but has anyone else had problems with getting Play to open after flashing to 4.4.2? It opens and then tries to run, but it just sits and spins forever. I can't install my apps from Play if I can't get Play to open! :)

#1) not an option unless i can root. EDIT: Does SuperSU's Survival mode work?
#2) I want KK. I'd actually perfer NC4 to stay on the OTA path. I'm not big on roms, except when i have to (like with my MK908 TV stick, where the stock rom is too crappy to use.).

#3) is what i'm currently doing... waiting and watching.

so, apps, accounts, and game files are still there?
My personal files are easy to backup, but game files and whatnot are not. And Titanium Backup is too confusing.

A Factory Reset is what i'm trying to avoid.

I just have everything i use on a daily basis set up perfectly, and i'd rather not bother to go through every app and set things up again. And i have some game saves that i don't want to lose.

Edit: Apparently someone has done what i want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52634371&postcount=108

Quick question, Ive already updated my VZW Note 3 from 4.3 JB to 4.4.2. KK but I have SS v3.72 installed and (the app says so) but when I do a manual restart. I don't get the splash screen with the option to continue or recovery. It goes str8 to Samsung Splash screen...im using v3.72. 'm pretty sure and I have uninstalled the previous version. Does anybody have any clue what I'm doing wrong. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 10+ times. is anybody else having this issue.? Please Help.
