So I'd been putting of rooting until October when my warranty was up. Found out about the issues blocking root with the new updated and decided it was time. Been putting off the OTA for a week or two now until I had time to root. Well today I accidentally hit the install now button. I pulled the battery before recovery could load or update could start. However, every time I turn the phone on it goes to boot into recovery again to load the update. Anyway to stop this so I can go ahead and root?

If you can get to download mode (from device off, simultaneously hold vol down, home, pow buttons) you can flash mje in odin, then do the update from there. See the Root thread in my sig.

I found your thread recently and it was the reason I decided to go ahead and root, so thanks for such a well laid out post and your response here.

Any hope of getting my stuff off the phone?

Crap. Nothing on SD card all on device. Anyway, it does go into download mode so I guess that's my only real option. How important is the USB Debugging/Unknown sources note in the odin info as I can't boot up to change them.

That might be your undoing if they're not already checked.

Try a factory wipe/reset from odin. See my ODIN link, about half way down, FACTORY RESET.

THEN unchecked verify apps, check allow unknown sources and usb debugging, THEN go to ROOT link, THEN gobti UPDATE TO KK 4.4 link

Sorry, got distracted. Doing the factory reset procedure leaves the phone booting up just like it does when I turn it on normally (since pressing "Install Now" as if its going to install the update). I didn't let it go far as I'm afraid it will install the update. I guess I'll try to odin mje and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

To be clear, I don't think the phone is messed up at all. I am just afraid it's going to update and I'll lose ability to root. Does it have any sort of confirmation in recovery before it starts actually installing the update so I could cancel it?

If you jump right into flashing mje in odin, you should be good and the update should stop trying to push itself

Thanks a lot @az_biker !!! My dad saw my Note 3 and wanted one himself so he went off in search for an MJE Note 3 --- found one at Costco. I just rooted it following your two threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543386 and this one.

Found an old Kingo 1.1.5 - turned on USB debugging mode (took about 2 minutes with 2 restarts) --- had to approve that camera app that Google recommended I not install. Rooted without a problem. Installed SS. Then flashed BajaRom Build 13 (4.4.2) and then ODIN 3.09'ed the firmware. BAM, up and running in less than 5 minutes total. Then, most important, installed SS once inside of BajaRom.

Worked flawlessly! Thank you for the time you spent to make these!!!!

Edit: The only thing I'm noticing is, when I restart the phone I don't get a recovery prompt. Is this normal? SS 3.72 shows as installed. But if I power off the phone or reboot it - it instantly goes from the Samsung Note 3 unlocked to BajaRom. Did I grab the wrong SS?

Edit Answer ----- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53059851 ---- I had to hit Reinstall Recovery 3 times in the SS app for this to be fixed.

Thanks again for everything!

Well az_biker, thanks to your wonderful instruction threads I am now back up with rooted NC2 BajaRom. You've been insanely helpful and responsive, thank you very much.

So far only things I've noticed is I couldn't update Xposed Installer so based on a post in the BajaRom thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53021312&highlight=xposed+installer#post53021312) I uninstalled with Titanium and downloaded the latest and that got xposed and its modules going.

I haven't gotten the screen off flashlight option to work yet, seems useful. SOOO many options to play with. So many fixes to annoying issues in there too. Like how long it takes the volume box to go away. Brilliant.

Thanks to everyone involved, devs and non-devs. Can't believe I waitied 6 months to root.

Go into settings>Baja custom settings>xposed> xposed framework mods> framework installer > framework > click install/update > cancel to not reboot > modules > check modules you want activated (or back up one step and download the modules you want > go back to modules > check newly downloaded module) >reboot

Got it to work just as you suggested however after i got that done and rebooted whenever I scroll in like my emails or G+ my screen has the jitters or should I say it starts jumping up and down as I scroll instead of the nice smooth scrolling that i previously had...

I stopped the Exposed app but it continuously does it even after I stopped it.....help
